Worlds Largest Dungeon Holds 'Secret Doors' Contest

My buddy at the time, jim pinto, was a key designer on this project. And one of the requirements was that it had to be ALL ON ONE LEVEL, so they could create a huge 3mx4m (or larger!) wall map for it. IIRC, he wasn't happy about that, as what kind of dungeon is all on a single level - but in...

What are you reading in 2025?

I did like the 1812 Overture (ducks...)

D&D General Turgenev's Friday Freebie Maps

I am really coming around to liking dungeons (or keeps or whatever) that are connected to the outside world, like this one.

Dungeon World Gets New Owners, Second Edition Planned

Over on the Stonetop Discord Jeremy answered this question just yesterday, by basically saying he needs to finish Stonetop before any other project can take up his brain. (but also acknowledged that a conversation with the new publishers did happen)

RPG CROWDFUNDING NEWS – Riverbank, Woodlander, Ryecroft, and more

Oh also - is the Riverbank novel an e-book or dead tree? It's not clear in the add-ons section.

RPG CROWDFUNDING NEWS – Riverbank, Woodlander, Ryecroft, and more

I'm kind of worried about the add-ons like the tea infuser and other "cute" add-ons that could end up sinking the main crowdfund of Riverbank. Kevin Crawford had a post about the horror stories wherein a crowdfund would have been ok if they stuck to their core competency of RPG books, and...

D&D 5E (2024) WotC Unveils Dragon Delves' Eclectic Art Styles

Now they just need to do a supplement that's all dungeons (I'm only partly kidding)

    2025 Hugo Nominees Announced

How funny, my eye went to that too!

    Our Physical Fitness

Side Abduction with leg full out may actually be more force for your hip. Assume your leg is about 1/7th of your weight - but from a fulcrum standpoint, out to the foot, it probably weighs something like half your weight. Plus, the mechanics of your body when sitting at the abduction machine (I...

    2025 Hugo Nominees Announced

The top line is of course the Best Novel, and the second line is the Novella. But check out the Series nominees. Fun fact (as you'll see in the wikipedia link) Seanan McGuire has been nominated for Best Series SEVEN TIMES (out of nine); and not yet won. I don't think this will be the year either...

What Are You Listening To? - Reprise

I was going to say "Hozier! now that's a name I haven't heard in a long time..." But then saw who posted - @dragoner ! Now that's a name I haven't heard in a long time..." Hope you are well :)

How many years does it take for an RPG to become nostalgic, for you?

I love reading the PF APs. Never run nor played in one; not even sure if I want to. I just read them as another genre of fiction... They are interesting in that they are written by multiple people; often a different person on all 6; or one person does episode 1 and episode 6, the intervening...

Not DnD TTRPGs Interviews for April

Psychic Danger Society has a cool premise. I like the "Portent"-like mechanic used for the whole game. Runecaster also sounds neat. I'll def listen to both of those

D&D 5E (2024) WotC Unveils Dragon Delves' Eclectic Art Styles

Others may have chimed in, but I thought the same thing on first glance. Had to open it up and then zoom in. And you know what? In my head-canon, there's a high-priestess of Bahamut standing there just freaking taking that blast...

How many years does it take for an RPG to become nostalgic, for you?

I am a bit nostalgic for that time when I had "unlimited" time to enjoy reading my books and then spending all day Saturday deep into the night playing. Also I am nostalgic for Traveller Little Black Books being $3.50, and my 1978 Player's Hand book costing $12 or whatever.

How many years does it take for an RPG to become nostalgic, for you?

I am not nostalgic for the games themselves; but for the experiences, friends, and time at the table - which the games were a vehicle to facilitate.

Compare The Market's Tabletop Gaming Survey

Well right there shows the entire flaw in this survey. You and I don't have a definition for what "collecting"is; but no doubt neither of us matches with what the survey creators meant; and then 1000+ people took the survey in each country, and who knows how many definitions there were...

What are you reading in 2025?

(I like a lot of those books - it's great that there are books from other voices also now on the shelves). And I will note that a lot of older books have been updated to have the "new-fangled" trade dress. Wheel of Time for example.

Compare The Market's Tabletop Gaming Survey

Huh, odd. My Gm collects minis to use in our D&D game; one of our players is a huge MtG collector (odd that MtG is not included in this survey - maybe it was another question on there); in another game two of our players is a couple who collect board games; and a third has a lot of RPGs too, but...
