Exactly! If something is useful and creates for interesting roleplaying, it should be encouraged, even "rules for stairs" or "rules for rugs, tables and lamps".

Pathfinder got mocked because there were supposedly going to be "rules for stairs" by some in the 4e crowd. Now 4e has rules for rugs, tables and lamps.
It's not exactly rocket science.

It's not an equivalent test as Paizo didn't mock up this t-shirt, a small 3PP did. Perhaps if you substitute a small 4e 3PP (if there even are any anymore) for WotC?

And good point about pre-releases/kickstarters. Everyone is always like, "oh no problem - you don't have to pay anything if they don't raise the money." But if they *do* raise the money, they get that cash up front and you have...
