What SuperHero RPG do you play ?

One more thing, ICONS *can* do point buy character generation too (see p. 17 "But I Don't Want to Roll Up a Hero!" in the core rules) if you prefer that to random. My ICONS Clarification Notes (linked above) includes some additional helpful tips from Steve Kenson et al. on point buy as well.

What SuperHero RPG do you play ?

I've been playing ICONS Superpowered Roleplaying regularly for well over a year now. It was exactly what I wanted in a supers game. I've ran and played it with adults and children. It's one of my top favorite RPGs of all time now. I like that it is rules lite and easy to prep, run and teach. I...

Fortress America: When Gaming and Politics Collide

I like the first one, but only because it pissed someone somewhere off and got their panties in a bunch. B-)

How many tabletop roleplaying games did you play in 2011?

2-5: ICONS - a whole lot of ICONS. Dead of Night 2e Some Colonial Gothic And at least one session of: Pathfinder Microlite20 I didn't get a chance to play two favorites in 2011 that I played in 2010: True20 and Decipher Trek (I'm defining "play" to include playing the game as a player or a GM)

    WotC's Annual Xmas Layoffs

Thank you Steve for all the work you did on great products I've truly enjoyed and treasured over the years. Cheers and here's to the next great adventure! B-)

    WotC's Annual Xmas Layoffs

That's too bad. I wish both gentlemen the best of luck in their future endeavors. Rich Baker did some excellent work for TSR and WotC on D&D, Alternity and the Forgotten Realms during the 2e and 3e eras - I hope we do see him over at Paizo soon.

    Reviews you can trust?

Good Old Fashioned Word of Mouth Advertising in the Internet Age Wasn't always the case, but most RPG reviews are completely useless and meaningless to me now, especially the ones at RPGNow/DrivethruRPG (and in particular their "staff reviews"). Good buzz and discussion from everyday actual...

Looking for a d20 monster - Flayed Horror

And found it! It's in DCC #29 The Adventure Begins, specifically the Mage Maze adventure in that compilation and fully written up in Appendix I: New Monsters. Thanks guys for helping me jog my memory! B-)

Looking for a d20 monster - Flayed Horror

Thanks! Okay, so it looks like I need to start going through my DCCs... I see there's an older 3.5e version of Blackdirge's up at RPGNow too...

Looking for a d20 monster - Flayed Horror

Thanks for the suggestions. I took a look at my Tome of Horrors Revised (3.5e version) and it wasn't in there - I own the original 3e ToH too but never picked up the other volumes (II and III I believe). I also went through all my Monster Geographica books, The Complete Book of Denizens (for...

Looking for a d20 monster - Flayed Horror

My memory is going - fast. I'm trying to recall the sourcebook where I saw the stats for the Flayed Horror - basically an undead zombie with the skin flayed off. I believe it may have been in a Goodman Games product, perhaps a DCC module, but I can't remember which one (or if I'm even in the...

    Superhero Systems Needed

Interesting. Does the GM Guide give any advice on what types of supers games might benefit from those alternate rolling methods (like street level, cosmic etc.)?

What was your first RPG experience if it WASN'T D&D?

Excellent idea for a poll but I think you are going to see a lot of Other because there were some big name contemporaries to early D&D not on the poll like Traveller, Tunnels & Trolls and Call of Cthulhu.

Tell Me of Your Annual Halloween Game!

For me, Halloween is more of a season than just one day. I like to do it all - costume parties, haunted houses, haunted hay rides, scary movies and some horror gaming! B-)

Why the thought of D&D 5e makes me sad...

Some much needed perspective before the next edition war Four Five editions of D&D, and not one of them ever got anyone laid. B-)

Why the thought of D&D 5e makes me sad...

They will eventually remove 4e content though. If they are smart they just won't do it right away. I'm guessing they are probably smart.

I was just thinking how 5e will be the first edition of D&D post Gary and Dave. :(
