    Uncanny Vanishing feat

so as you go up in level, it becomes harder to use the same ability? Why not just make a new spell that's a 4th or 5th level spell, that is like dimension door but can transport almost nothing and has pretty much no range, and is usable as a move action. It might be a bit powerful, if so, up...

    LG Drow Character?

and then the curse gets lifted, and suddenly the party who has been interacting with this lawful good protector of justice finds themselves in a death trap set up by their friend :D . But yes, what the GM says goes, but I'd have to agree, generally people pick drow for all those cool...

    Actions after Dimension Door

can you dimension door through areas of null magic? Not that that has anything to do with the argument, just a sudden thought. I'd say to initiaite combat it'd be a surprise round if the DDers knew where they were teleporting to, ie line of sight which would allow at least a chance for the...

    How to Explain Evasion?

how is it possible to survive being at the center of a large fireball, or at least come out not severly injured anyways ? It's a DND thing... edit:I just had to add the anyways.

    Golem Armor

    thanks!

    Golem Armor

nah, they're only level 9. The golem armor is sort of like a CR 12 construct that can fly, shoot spikes, etc., but a person can put it on and basically control the construct, gaining all it's abilities.

Think I got my CR's right? (Please don't look at this my players)

Okay, so the background is that currently I'm running a campaign with a party of three people. They're a level 9 party (a wizard, a cleric, and a fighter) and have heard of a strange insect race attacking the nomadic tribes of the north, and have decided to investigate. They've already had a few...

The Lorethief core class - An acquirer of obscure knowledge (revised again)

hmm, just a quick idea I'm having with the spells: because he's a class all about gaining hidden knowledge and such, why not make him prepare spells and be able to gain more via writing to something like the wizard. This would make him really be pilfering arcane knowledge for his direct...

    Golem Armor

There's a book by Bastion Press called arms & armor that I got a while ago that has something called golem armor in it. I finally reached a point in my campaign where I think the PCs can deal with an enemy wearing this stuff, but alas I can't find my book anywhere. I don't believe it's...

    The Accursed (PrC)

seems intersting, but sort of...boring and underpowered. I really don't know what to do about it, maybe give him some more curse other people abilities or something. Possibly anyone who curses him later gets penalties whenever they fight him, etc.

short spear: best weapon in 3.0?

why not carry a greatsword and longbow? Corlon the rogue votes for two weapon daggers. And as for spellcasters, crossbows are very nice, as they're the shortspears damage except with none of the str penalties and more range. I dunno, it's a nice all around weapon possibly for the first one or...

The Lorethief core class - An acquirer of obscure knowledge (revised again)

Interesting idea, kind of like an arcane trikster put into a core class, but truly a rogue/wizard together into one class. All the special abilities mixed with a lot of spells seems sort of unbalanced at first glance, but then again I haven't really looked in depth at the spell list or per day...

    reforging weapons

I'd probably allow it with a wish spell.

Arctic Bugs of Death (my players stay out :))

Okay, so the background is that currently I'm running a campaign with a party of three people. They're a level 9 party (a wizard, a cleric, and a fighter) and have heard of a strange insect race attacking the nomadic tribes of the north, and have decided to investigate. They've already had a...

To Sneak Attack, or not to Sneak Attack that is the question...

Giving sneak attack to other classes is really overpowered and crippling ot the rogue's special ability IMO. I'd say just exchange it for bonus feats or some such, or maybe if he's a swashbuckler come up with something akin to piercing strike for the duelist. Then again, just because he's...

    human variant

I agree, I think this is a pretty cool idea, and seems pretty balanced right now. For Sejs red flag, I'd just say put the little disclaimer "these extra ranks may not be used to gain access to anything at a lower level than normal.

Pearl of Power -- use activated?

Some unlucky teleport attempts, my PCs seem to ALWAYS make their teleport checks *shrug*. Then again, it's getting more used every session, so one of these days, they'll have to role the wrong % :uhoh: :]

    Building a 1st level gnome

or you could convince your GM to allow you to use 3.0's favored class (illusionist).

    Wizards with bows... WTF

Well, you said you wanted this as an alternative to bows and crossbows, so I'm assuming this would be used at fairly low levels. This said, why do you keep saying "well in comparison to a 20th level fighter," that's just a bit of a high level. Also, the 1000gp/level priced focus seems a bit...

Help me with my archer build?

That's what composite is for :D Then again, if you think about it...mounted archer isn't really needed. It reduces penalties for firing when your mount double moves or runs, I think for most circumstances 50ft. move (or 100 with a ___ of speed..in 3.0 that is) and a full round of firing is...
