I don't think a PC selling his spells is that big of a deal; I personally don't have a problem with a PC profiting off of his abilities, as long as it is a side thing. Obviously, if he decided to set up a shop and do this exclusively, then he would soon become an NPC. But never allowing it seems...

I think it's a valid question. If I zapped a fighter decked out in full plate and great sword for 12 strength damage, I would inquire about his encumbrance as well. After all, most DM's I know would ask the same question to any player that lost a lot of strength. Turn about is fair play. :]

The problem with that is that it is still reliant on armor. If I call it superior training, what happens when I'm ambushed at night or while in the bath? Where is my superior training? I see what you are saying, but describing it in a different way doesn't change the fact that it is still armor...

Actually, it does. Elven Reverie is mentioned in the physical description of the Elves in the race section of the book.

A glamered suit of armor retains all its normal qualities (including weight). So it doesn't really solve the problem.

I would be really interested in hearing more about this. The only options I know of for a (single classed) fighter to boast AC without using armor and/or magic items is Dodge and Combat Expertise.
