D&D 5E (2014) Does anyone have any experience with Monks?

I guess I can see that, but isn't it unlikely that the monk will have that much ki to blow? Flurry of blwos costs a point of ki, and then wouldn't each stunning blow attempt cost an additional point? Considering the fact that the monk likely spent a good chunk of his ki leading up to the solo...

Why do halflings make great monks?

D&D 5E (2014) Does anyone have any experience with Monks?

My (limited) understanding was that the most common save proficiency was Constitution. Surely it can't be that difficult to save against the stunning fist?

D&D 5E (2014) Does anyone have any experience with Monks?

I should clarify. I'm not trying to build a monk tank; it would be fairly difficult unless I somehow rolled well on my stats. Rather, I'm curious as to how tough a monk is when he's the only dedicated melee character in a group; if I play a monk with the current party composition, I'd be darting...

D&D 5E (2014) Does anyone have any experience with Monks?

Ah yes. The druid. He *could* potentially be a melee character. He just doesn't want to. Despite the fact that he's a moon circle druid, his player has no interest in going melee in animal form; I can count on one hand the number of times he has done so. He prefers to sling spells, whether it...

D&D 5E (2014) Does anyone have any experience with Monks?

Are monks really glass cannons? They're AC's aren't too far behind a fighters; a 20 in Wisdom and Dexterity comes out to a 20 AC, which matches a plate and shield fighter. And their hit die averages out to 1 less hp per level than a fighter.

D&D 5E (2014) Does anyone have any experience with Monks?

I'm considering rolling up a monk, but I'm a little uncertain of how well they play. Part of me is apprehensive about trying one; I still remember how inept they were in 3.5. Has anyone had the opportunity to play a monk? If so, what do you think of them? How well do they perform compared to...

    D&D 5E (2014) Is Concentration Bugging You?

I've been playing a wizard character in our 5e game since September. In that time, we've gone from 1st level all the way up to our current level of 7th. Just recently, I have decided to retire the character because I just don't like the concentration rules and the way it interacts with spells...

D&D 5E (2014) Passive perception Yay or Nay?

I don't like it. For a couple of reasons. 1. I don't like the idea of the DM setting a high DC for noticing a trap or secret door, and then nobody noticing because no one in the group has a high passive; if the DM makes all secret doors DC 15, and the highest perception is 13, then nothing gets...

D&D 5E (2014) Purposefully Hindering your Character at Creation

He wasn't a liability most of the time; he was actually one of the most powerful characters at the table, and 9 times out of 10, saved the parties bacon. This just wasn't one of those times. :p His insanity could not be cured; he was a member of the Alienist prestige class, and thus stuck with...

D&D 5E (2014) Purposefully Hindering your Character at Creation

I played a wizard once who suffered a number flaws. He had a terrible stutter; it drove people at the table nuts (in a good way) to listen to my character talk, as I refused to not stutter whenever in character. In addition, he suffered from a serious of obsessive compulsive issues; he counted...

    D&D 5E (2014) Shillelagh. Am I missing something?

Another option would be playing a monk and either mulitclassing, or picking up the magic initiate feat.
