    D&D 5E (2014) Does 5e have anything like Ironwood

Maybe ignore the thread if the subject matter bothers you rather than being condescending towards the OP? It's a novel approach, I know. But I have confidence in you.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e's underwhelming releases

I know I'll be boo'd off the stage, but I'll just say it: I'm hoping for more player content to be released. Not the obvious bloat from 3.5, mind you. But as a player, I like more options and more ways to customize my characters. If WotC only focuses on AP's and monster manuals, I think they'll...

D&D 5E (2014) Primeval Awareness and other hidden gems

What has the world come to when the cleric is threatened instead of praised? Besides, the same case can be made for all the noise the BSF makes clanking around in the suit of plate he never takes off.

D&D 5E (2014) Spells with attack rolls, do you avoid them?

Other than cantrips, I avoid attck rolls like the plague; this edition grants too few spells to waste them. I've also avoided most spells that don't have an effect on a failed save. My group has started calling me the Scrooge of Spellcasters because I rarely "spend" any spell energy anymore...

D&D 5E (2014) How well can your players and NPCs maintain concentration for spells?

Our cleric has the same issue. But our DM usually has archers or other ranged combatants to fill those in the back lines full of holes.

D&D 5E (2014) How well can your players and NPCs maintain concentration for spells?

Good for them. But as the casters in our group lose concentration pretty often, I'm going to go ahead and disagree with you and say that, yes, we have been forced to take it.

    D&D 5E (2014) Dragon Slaying in 5e

Oh wow. How do you change the background color? Frankly, this white background is hard on the eyes.

Huh? The background on every device I post on is white. Is it different for other people?

    D&D 5E (2014) Dragon Slaying in 5e

D&D 5E (2014) Observations and opinions after 8 levels and a dragon fight

So basically, any dragon in your game is not going to be out smarted, goaded, or reduced to any sort of disadvantage whatsoever? At that point, I wouldn't bother fighting it; let it have all the virgin princesses it wants; it can't be beat, and I'm certainly not going to play its stupid little...

D&D 5E (2014) Observations and opinions after 8 levels and a dragon fight

Exactly. Dragons traditionally are arrogant creatures with a massive god complex. While highly intelligent, they should also have to contend with their own egos. I think a more effective method of dealing with a dragon is to steal their stuff and goad them out of their precious death trap lairs...

D&D 5E (2014) Observations and opinions after 8 levels and a dragon fight

I would have simply ruled that each character could only have one buff on at a time. That way, the buff stacking would be negated, while still allowing the casters to buff multiple people.

D&D 5E (2014) How well can your players and NPCs maintain concentration for spells?

Meh, agree to disagree then. Every caster in my group has been forced to take it; there aren't enough spell slots in this edition to blow them every time you stub your toe.

D&D 5E (2014) Observations and opinions after 8 levels and a dragon fight

Has anyone thought up effective methods for negating lair actions? Especially against dragons, why would some willingly engage against such a creature when it has those abilities? Better to wait for them to leave their little hidey holes, or draw them out than actually fight them. Especially...

D&D 5E (2014) Primeval Awareness and other hidden gems

1000 gp isn't so bad, especially since there really isn't much to spend gold on in this version of the game.

D&D 5E (2014) How well can your players and NPCs maintain concentration for spells?

I'm sorry, but it is a feat tax. Considering a good majority of the spells require concentration, and none of the spellcasters are proficient with constitution, it's a pretty big requirement. Especially when the only alternative is never casting 80 percent of available spells because they have...

D&D 5E (2014) How well can your players and NPCs maintain concentration for spells?

I'm wizard is currently 6th level. He's blown at least a dozen concentration checks, mainly because whenever I cast a concentration spell, I get targeted almost immediately. And with a Constitution of 11 and no proficiency, I usually fail those.

D&D 5E (2014) MM: How many high levels monsters have some form of magic resistance?

I've used it to that effect one time, so that my Hold Person actually landed. For a round. I seem to mostly roll high on my Portents, so they mainly are used to auto save on saving throws or when I absolutely *must* hit on an attack roll.

D&D 5E (2014) Sorcerer spell list - why so short?

I think my issue with the sorcerer is that their main niche is having a tiny list of spells known and modifying those spells with metamagic, but then only getting a few meta magics; they have 2 for the bulk of the game, only getting a third at 10th and a 4th at 17th. IMO, that isn't nearly...
