D&D 5E (2014) I'm just sayin', the concentration mechanic makes it WAY easier to balance spells

I'm not against a mechanic that helps balance out the classes; as I stated in a previous post, I like the concentration mechanic for the most part. I simply think it goes too far, especially since the caster classes have been nerfed in other areas; with spell slots higher than 5th level being so...

D&D 5E (2014) I'm just sayin', the concentration mechanic makes it WAY easier to balance spells

Implying that people want to break the game because they don't like certain aspects of a mechanic is rather insulting. I hope they do release some good spells that don't require concentration. That doesn't make me "broken." Besides, there are a few good spells that fit that description; mirror...

D&D 5E (2014) I'm just sayin', the concentration mechanic makes it WAY easier to balance spells

Personally, I'm still iffy on the concentration mechanic. While I like it as a balancing factor, I think they went a little too far with it; too many spells require concentration, some of which aren't even that viable as combat option. And I hate that the odds of losing a spell when hit is...

    D&D 5E (2014) So...warlocks?

By the way, does anyone know if 5E will have Pearls of Power? If so, my future warlock character will hunt for, steal, buy, trade, and barter all of them.

    D&D 5E (2014) So...warlocks?

Ha! I did indeed me "tome," but now that you point it out, my error is a pretty neat idea for a new pact. But yes, I tend to favor the "tome" pact for the extra cantrips and the batman utility belt that comes with having access to every ritual in the book.

    D&D 5E (2014) So...warlocks?

You know, that is actually a really cool idea. So far, my favorite pact is Tomb, because I love more cantrips and potentially having access to every ritual in the game. But having an invisible, unkillable spy sounds really handy. I love the arcane eye invocation, but considering you don't...

    D&D 5E (2014) So...warlocks?

So now that the PH has been out for close to a week, I'd like to open the thread up to general warlock discussion. Whatt do people think now that we can see all that they can do (and can't do). Personally, I'm trying to figure out what the warlock's "role" in the party is. They're spell list...

    D&D 5E (2014) There's one thing about 5E I don't like...

Let me just preface this by saying that, overall, I'm loving 5E. That being said... One aspect I'm not too fond of are the skills. Specifically, how once you pick your class and background you are essentially locked in, and have no means of learning new skills. Basically, your character has no...

    D&D 5E (2014) So...warlocks?

That's my main concern as well. I'm not too familiar with 4e, but weren't the short rests only 5 minutes in that version?

    D&D 5E (2014) So...warlocks?

Okay, those are good points. I count 8 out of the 32 invocations listed are of the 1/day type, so that's a plus. And the fact that warlocks get their spells back after a short rest is a good thing. But how often are short rests actually happening during a gaming session? Taking an hour several...

    D&D 5E (2014) So...warlocks?

As I've been reading various forums, I've noticed most people agree that the warlock is a beast. But I'm not seeing that. Am I missing something about the class? It seems to me that they're magically gimped; they get a tiny handful of spells known, and even less slots. And most of their...

Sagiro's Story Hour: The FINAL Adventures of Abernathy's Company (FINISHED 7/3/14)

And now I'm all caught up. :) I've been enjoying the story hour for years now; I'm both thrilled and saddened that it has finally reached its conclusion. At least I can look forward to the next couple of years as you catch up. Congratz, Sagiro and crew! And thanks for an epic read.

    D&D 3.x What if everyone's a wizard? [3.5]

In the latest books, most of the more powerful magicians are related to Bink in some fashion. Due to the Demon Xanth's influence, every decendent of Bink has a magician level talent.

    D&D 3.x What if everyone's a wizard? [3.5]

Check out the Codex Alera book series by Jim Butcher. It follows the same premise: all of the humans of Alera possess the ability to use/summon/manipulate elementals (called Furies). The main character of the books, Tavi, is considered a freak because he is the only human being without this...

I'm playing a pixie! What class should I be?

Truthfully, I've had a problem trying to fit most of the leader classes with my character concept. Leaders focus on aiding their allies rather than themselves, and I'm kind of stuck on how to combine the two. Perhaps I should go for a different concept all together. :hmm:

I'm playing a pixie! What class should I be?

An update: we seem to have lost our bard, and are thus leaderless. I'll have to step in and fill that spot, so the question now becomes: what leader class should my pixie be?

I'm playing a pixie! What class should I be?

Does anyone have any experience with hybrid characters? I've never actually used one before and I understand they can be tricky to design. But I've also heard the right combination of classes and feats can produce some pretty interesting characters.

I'm playing a pixie! What class should I be?

Alright, so I'm trying to narrow down the choices, and I'm thinking I'd like to focus on one of the more magical classes; being a pixie, it's kind of difficult to imagine him not being mystical. So far, I'm thinking swordmage, swordmage/wizard hybrid, fey pact warlock, bard, or perhaps one of...

I'm playing a pixie! What class should I be?

While the flavor of a pixie vampire would be pretty awesome, I don't think vampire would be viable; most of our adventures take place during the day, and I don't know how the character would function without burning to a crisp. Plus I've heard that vampires are kind of bad.

This is gold! I'm adding this to the possible list. Thanks!
