D&D General The Resurrection of Mike Mearls Games.

This lines up with what Tweet or Reynolds stated in Dragon Magazine about the original DCs in 3.0. The DCs were based on the what the designers referred to as the "Commoner Standard" (or was it "Common Standard") which was how difficult a task is for a common human with no training or (edit...

    D&D 5E (2024) 50th Anniversary: 6E in 2024?

First level subclases would also allow for variations within a class for Armor Proficiency, Weapon Proficiencies, Hit Die, starting skills (number and list), save proficiencies based upon the archetype/theme for the subclass.

D&D 5E (2024) Things You Think Would Improve the Game That We WON'T See

Move Jeremy Crawford and Chris Perkins to the M:TG team and put Steve Kenson in charge of 5eR.

    Who’s your best Batman?

I agree. edit: I like the Keaton Batman movies, but I never bought him, physically, as Bruce Wayne. The same goes for Pattinson. However, they tie for my second choice. As for Adam West, I never liked the tv show, but I will take him over Clooney and Kilmer as the latter two are at the bottom...

I like Savage Worlds and have heard great things about the licensed Savage Pathfinder

D&D General IF D&D were for sale ...

I would love D&D in the hands of one of the following. 1. Green Ronin if they put Steve Kenson in charge. I liked GR's 3e D&D stuff- especially, the stuff Steve wrote. 2. Pinnacle Entertainment Group for a change in mechanics: I would love to see Dark Sun, Ravenloft, and Greyhawk using Savage...

D&D General The Resurrection of Mike Mearls Games.

It is interesting. However, not my style as a DM.

D&D General The Resurrection of Mike Mearls Games.

I just bookmarked all of Mike's Happy Hours which I thought were lost forever. I am going to go through them-especially, the first few months to find class design issues that were brought up (e.g. the Bard should have had its subclass at first level under the guidelines eventually put in place)...

I just had the same reaction upon reading this thread.

    D&D 5E (2014) Don't Throw 5e Away Because of Hasbro

where as I am one of those people that looks to third party content, because I don't like the supplements WOTC puts out.

    D&D 5E (2014) Are Paladins Merely Mediocre Multiclass Fighter/Clerics?

I don't know. However, since Mearls is back on the forums, perhaps he can come by and answer the question if someone casts Summon @mearls.

    D&D 5E (2014) Are Paladins Merely Mediocre Multiclass Fighter/Clerics?

My only major complaint is that I want a Paladin's classs spell list removed and each subclass to receive a unique spell list entirely based upon the theme of the subclass's oath.

    D&D 5E (2014) Don't Throw 5e Away Because of Hasbro

I don't see myself buying D&D 2024, because I haven't seen much of anything that has impressed me with the playtest (just as I have not seen anything from WOTC after the core books that made me want to continue buying WOTC products for D&D 2014). On the other hand, there have been several 5e...

D&D 5E (2014) DM imposed restrictions to the game (+)

The only things that I did not vote for restricting were backgrounds and features. I suppose I might restrict backgrounds if they don't fit the campaign, but any backgrounds restricted mostly fall under restricted books. As for features, if I am going to ban a feature, I've probably already...

How well do you predict non-OGL/CC games will do?

Didn't Savage Worlds do well after the OGL debacle? Obviously, they are not at WOTC's market share (and probably, not near Paizo's either). However, I remember they sold out their print run of the core rules and I have seen several D&D and other YouTube reviewers promoting it as an rpg option...

    D&D 5E (2014) Sell me on 5th…

I find the core books are pretty good. Personally, I can't recommend anything official after that, but I think there are lots of great third party products- many free or inexpensive including a few here on ENWorld. Beyond the above, I have nothing else to add.
