    Sword & Sorcery RPGs 2024

I haven't run or played these, but both Barbarians of Lemuria and Everywhen with Sword & Sorcery Codex (it is designed for both), Savage Worlds w/ Savage Lankhmar, and Savage Worlds w/ Beast & Barbarians all have my interest as does the upcoming Conan rpg from Monolith

D&D General Folks Who Came Back With 5E: Did You Stay with 5E?

I picked up 5e after skipping 4e. However, since COVID, I have not been able to run/play due to concentration issues. I am keeping my core 5e books, but leaning more towards Barbarians of Lemuria/Everywhen (either with Sword & Sorcery Codex), Conan (Monolith), Savage Worlds, Honor + Intrigue...

D&D General What is your most prized Dungeons and Dragons Product?

Hmm. I don't have one single product: Going by editions B/X D&D: Moldvay Basic and Cook Expert books; AD&D 1e: Greyhawk Gazetteer, Deities & Demi-gods with the Cthulhu and Nehwon mythos; AD&D 2e: Complete Thief's Handbook; and 3e: the Green Ronin Psychic's, Shaman's, and Witch's Handbooks

DC Heroes Role-Playing Game Gets New Reprint from Cryptozoic

I loved the 2e New Teen Titans, Man of Steel, and Magic Sourcebooks. My only complaint about the 2e Batman sourcebook is that, unlike the 1e Batman sourcebook, it did not include the Outsiders. edit: I also liked the 2e Justice League and Man of Steel sourcebooks

DC Heroes Role-Playing Game Gets New Reprint from Cryptozoic

Not via KS. According to the KS FAQ, they will not be available individually due to logistics.

DC Heroes Role-Playing Game Gets New Reprint from Cryptozoic

My one complaint is that the sourcebooks and adventures are done in bundles rather than being available individually. For those trying to fill holes in their collection, it is annoying to have to purchase duplicate items if you own several items in a given bundle just to get the one or two...

DC Heroes Role-Playing Game Gets New Reprint from Cryptozoic

Having DCH 2e and the Batman sourcebooks for 1e and 2e, I never saw the need to get the Batman RPG.

DC Heroes Role-Playing Game Gets New Reprint from Cryptozoic

That is what I thought I had, originally, read from the Q&A. I was just sharing the most recent news I had heard from someone whom the Facebook group seems to deem a trustworthy source and has been exchanging emails with Ray. edit: Yeah, I just reread the KS page which does say that people will...

DC Heroes Role-Playing Game Gets New Reprint from Cryptozoic

Just sharing an update. Someone on the DC Heroes Facebook group and whom has a YouTube channel stated that, according to Ray Winninger, current KS plans are only for the DCH 1e and 2e boxed sets. When questioned regarding the 3e rulebook and Batman RPG, Ray, apparently, told him that, maybe...

D&D General A glimpse at WoTC's current view of Rule 0

or there could just be a large enough minority of gamers that prefer adventure paths to sustain Paizo. I have no idea which is true, but noting the possibility.

I thought he was talking about 5.24. Just noticed the reference to 5.0- stupid vision issues. :)

D&D General A glimpse at WoTC's current view of Rule 0

Why should I care what the books say on that regard? It is, imo, the same bad advice we started seeing from the designers in mid to late 3.5 beginning in Andy Collin's Sibling Rivalry column on the WOTC website. That article contradicted everything he wrote earlier in Dragon Magazine. It came...

D&D General A glimpse at WoTC's current view of Rule 0

Yeah, I am not to interested in WOTC's takes on D&D fantasy. The types of fantasy settings that I prefer are Arthurian (Mallory, Mists of Avalon, or Excalibur), Conan (REH or Roy Thomas), Tolkein, Beastmaster, Dragonslayer, Ladyhawke, or Willow influenced fantasy settings. On occasion, either...

D&D General A glimpse at WoTC's current view of Rule 0

Yeah, I create potential story hooks, but, once the players create their characters, they are free to grab on to those potential hooks or come up with their own goals based on their character's background and goals (within the limits of the setting). This is where players may also suggest some...

D&D General A glimpse at WoTC's current view of Rule 0

I do exactly this. The idea goes back to 1e. I don't recall if it was in the DMG or an article in either Strategic Review, or Dragon Magazine, but Gygax had suggested the DM tailoring a cleric's available spells to their deity. In 2e, we had something along those lines with the All, Minor and...

D&D General A glimpse at WoTC's current view of Rule 0

As a DM that pre-establishes a lot about the setting (species, cultures, deities, etc.) I will agree that the above is bad. I love when the actions of players impact the campaign. One memorable example was when the players, inadvertently, started a war between a theocracy and the dwarves whom...

D&D General A glimpse at WoTC's current view of Rule 0

Yep, to me they are special for being PCs with the camera pointed at them. Anyone thinking PCs are super special wierdos and I are, probably, not going to be a good match for gaming together (at least with regards to fantasy rpgs). There is nothing wrong with that.

D&D General A glimpse at WoTC's current view of Rule 0

And this where are preferences of fantasy differ. The settings I DM have no mad wizards with portals to other worlds- generally, there is a "heaven", "hell", "non/dead spirit" realm and not necessarily all three at once.
