    D&D 5E (2014) What will 5E's "signature line" be?

You misunderstand. I think what the qoute entails is that, during play the characters are allowed to develop naturally thus creating a background in a much more natural manner. (And not that you have to play your origin story every time you play from level 1) Since usually the characters were...

    D&D 5E (2014) What will 5E's "signature line" be?

It might be stream lined, but in the end it leaves more questions then older editions. "Whats my AC without armor?" "Why can't I wear armor as a sorcerrer and stack AC?", "...or as a barbarian?" "what happens if I put armor on creatures?", "why does Mage armor end if I don armor?". These are...

    D&D 5E (2014) What will 5E's "signature line" be?

Why not just keep the 3rd edition (yes, 2nd Edition AC in reverse :P)? If stacking, just be smart about the design, if you look at 5th then you will see they have a ton of AC bonuses from various sources, just that they don't have AC types. The 5th edition version is very poorly implemented...

    D&D 5E (2014) What will 5E's "signature line" be?

In a way, yes. THEY DIDNT CALL IT D&D 5! In another way, I was trying to say that some of the things in the book just offend the players by implying they are idiots. AC - Oh, look the players can't differentiate between natural armor and deflection bonus to AC. Lets simplify it to the point...

    D&D 5E (2014) What will 5E's "signature line" be?

"I don't aim to offend." - Billy Connolly 5 is trying to be friendly with everyone while still trying not to offend anyone. But it succeeds at offending a fair amount of people, like me.

D&D 5E (2014) What do we hope to see in the DMG?

Magic items and magic item economy. Stuff to spend gold on in general.

D&D 5E (2014) Cleric Domains and Turn Undead

First part, is not due to faith, it do to he fact hat some clerics channel positive energy to turn undea, and some use negative energy to rebuke undead. The second part, I completely disagree, Turn undead is hard coded into the Cleric, you don't have and option to take another class feature, or...

D&D 5E (2014) Share your cool Warlock Patrons & thier Pact Boons!

First thing firs. I think if anyone wants inspiration, then they should just flip trough Tome of Magic (3.5) or anything related to The Occultist in Pathfinder. Lots of great Vestiges and Spirits there who are just asking to be used as a Warlock pact. Interesting that this post has been...

D&D 5E (2014) AC and negative Dex modifier.

Your rather off topic. The topic is, If you have a negative DEX modifier, then do you add that to your L and M armor AC and if yes, why don't you add that to H armor AC. And can't you just forgoe adding DEX Ac to armor altogether as a choice.

D&D 5E (2014) AC and negative Dex modifier.

I see not many of you understood what I was trying to say. Let me try it a different way. So, I stand around in heavy armor (D&D 5 RAW), not jumpin around, I get a AC #. Now, in L or M armor, they give a certain amount of armor + Dex, what if I choose not to move around, thus not trying to add...

D&D 5E (2014) AC and negative Dex modifier.

So per RAW, negative modifier counts. But how about as sensible ruling? So I assume Dex represents moving around in combat, then the lack of Dex mod in heavy armor means the chracter doesent move around? If yes, why should the character receive the npenalty in M and L armor?

D&D 5E (2014) AC and negative Dex modifier.

Quick question. If I have -2 Dex modifier, then do I decrease my AC? I'm just asking cause with heavy armor you don't receive +Dex mod but with medium or light you do. And if I don't receive then in heavy why should I get it in medium or light?

D&D 5E (2014) Your favorite and least favorite things :)

I agree that some things are subjective, but this one isn't. If lets say if people choose to take a background (instead of put one together), then its better if the backgrounds are before classes. If you rather put together a background then it might not be better to place it before classes...

D&D 5E (2014) Your favorite and least favorite things :)

Let me phrase it differently, you acquire 1 inspiration on each character then got fight the big bad or something. Thats how I meant "bank it". I for one don't have any issue with the various types of armor, if the devs didn't like it they should have just made fewer versions to avoid confusion.

D&D 5E (2014) Your favorite and least favorite things :)

What I dislike: The order of the chapters: I think it would make more sense to place the backgrounds before classes. Due to the fact that with backgrounds you get fixed skills while with classes you choose. The equipment layout should be a bit more separated, its hard to see where one type of...

D&D 5E (2014) Lance is not a heavy weapon - Ergo halflings with lances. :D

So, I think the title says it all, the Lance is not noted as a heavy weapon. Meaning, halflings, gnomes and all small races can use the lance without disadvantage. I see a Stout Halfling Barbarian running around with a Lance dealing d12 (with reach, I know) dmg to all who oppose him/her. Keep...

Atributes - To roll or distribute?

Hey guys. So last night, the gang and I came together for some RP-ing. When we were deciding what to play I offered up to DM (very rare occasion). I had 1 significant restriction for character creation, they would have had to distribute the attribute points (32 points). 2 out of 3 players...
