two weapon fighting with a strength of less than 10

Yeah, I reread it and the way I wrote it sucked. (The 'actually' was because when I explained these rules to a couple of people they were like "really? that's silly!") (truthfully, it would've been better as: "Here's the rules Stream was mentioning:") It can be soooo hard to get inflection right...

    Huge size and AoO

Sorry, ir, but I don't see that "edges of a square don't really count as a space" exists anywhere. If you find it does say that somewhere, please let me know (it would help solve a few problems). Cover specifically mentions 'border'. Dictionary.com's first entry for border calls it "the part or...

Um, no one said otherwise. I was responding to the OP because you said you didn't have the rules quotes so I thought I would offer them.

Why double on Power Attack with Two-handed?

When using Power Attack with a two-handed weapon, you add twice the bonus. A while back a friend of mine explained that there was a specific reason why WOTC made PA doubled instead of 1 1/2 times but I can't remember what it was. Does anyone know? Mathematics? Precedence? The whim of the Gods?

    Special Damage vs. hit points

As everyone is aware, hit points do not represent actual damage, but rather things like fatigue (not fatigue) and the ability to ward off blows (hence higher levels = higher hps). Now, I've always been into adding a bit of reality to a game, as long as it doesn't significantly impact...

    probably obvious question about skills

Absolutely agree. My current DM specifically stated that once you had a class skill, it became a class skill forever. After I showed him how many skill points I would have and how I could spend them, he readily agreed to do it the standard way.

    Creating your own world.

Because the DM says. 'Nuff said. I'm in the 'Steal!' camp. I'm also in the "scrap paper" camp (though no battle grid). Quite frankly, I make up nearly everything on the fly. I draw on the books I've read, the worlds I've gamed in or used in the past. I even draw on contemporary culture for...

Some sort of catlike humanoid Non furry. More... feral.

This is so obvious you may not have thought about it. Make up your own! Talk to your DM and work out your own 'unique' creature. "You were cursed/blessed as a child ..."

    Huge size and AoO

Right, it's all based on 'corners'. If you accept corners as blocking, no AoO occurs. If you don't accept corners as blocking, an AoO occurs. I think a lot of people treat different corners, well, differently. A creature (like you implied earlier) isn't square but more rounded. Thus if it's a...

two weapon fighting with a strength of less than 10

Actually, I know it sounds silly but you do not add an extra penalty to wielding two-handed or off-hand. A 'bonus' is "A positive modifier to a die roll." So if you have a -2 penalty to strength, you apply just a -2 modifier to damage whether or not you fight one handed, two-handed, or off-hand.

    Huge size and AoO

Okay, so following Herzog's posting, neither player would be right. I didn't really get into the argument because the DM immediately agreed with "Another player." Add to that, I specifically left out the other PCs in the example, which if I had would've provided cover (as I suspected). One of...

    Huge size and AoO

Yeah, this has always been problematic to me. One argument is that since cover requires a line that "passes through" a border, a corner does not count because passing through means to enter at one end and exit through another. In a corner, you are not "passing through" the border because you...

    Huge size and AoO

Since I've been playing more recently, I am constantly being amazed to discover that a rule that I play a certain way turns out I've been playing incorrectly, or that my group has been playing a rule incorrectly and didn't know it until I've pointed it out. Now we've discovered a new dilemma...

    Magic Targeting Square vs Concealment

Sorry, but no. I know exactly what a "targeted spell" is. The problem is in exactly what is a 'target'. See below. Correct. Melf's does not have 'Target' line. Yet, in the description it specifically states it "speeds to its target." By definition, the target is the intended recipient. Yet...

    Magic Targeting Square vs Concealment

I'm not so sure of that because I'm not sure what you mean by "weapon-like". From the SRD: So Melf's Acid Arrow does not work, nor would Magic Missile. I'm not sure that even Spiritual Weapon would work by RAW (since you have to designate a target). Of course, I would probably allow that anyway.

A good Armor Class Bonus to Damage Reduction house rule?

Um, I'm responding to a post from yesterday, not 6 years ago. As to being silly, no way. I'm very interested in a DR system. It's just that none I've seen work when statistically analyzed. I think planesailing may be on to something. Question: Is Valhalla also planesailing? I beg to differ...

A good Armor Class Bonus to Damage Reduction house rule?

planesailing I don't know. Your DR system severely nerfs DEX based characters (except they often critical more). Monks (especially) and Rogues become even weaker. For example, I have a PC whose AC is 31. Under your system (ignoring crits) I would have 7 pts. DR and an AC of 24. A FTR with +2...

    Hit Points... Up or Down?

I always add everything, both as a player and a DM. Part of the reason for this is that, often, the actual setting is somewhere (like a class room) where writing the points on a board in front of the players is easiest. Also when dealing with creatures that have special resistances that would...

D And D: Answer in todays NY Times Crossword Puzzle

I actually found a DnD like puzzle in a book of Logic Problems. Essentially you had to discover who wore what armor, wielded what weapon, etc. I cringed when, in the end, it was something like the Barbarian preferred the short bow and the Ranger the battle axe!

    multiplication or addition?

Or, if you don't want to add all those dice and you're the DM, roll a bunch of random dice behind your screen, ignore them and make up a number! Your players will be impressed with your math skills!
