    D&D 5E (2024) Shackled City 5E?

I agree 7 out of 10. Some cool twists. However it is sooooooo Dungeon Heavy. If you like dungeon crawls then it is solid. I think if you strip out the hundreds of pointless filler encounters and reduce the number of empty rooms then there is an awesome core inside there.

Pathfinder 1E Best APs to Buy: Curated list.

Best in PF1, most suitable for conversion (it’s already out there) and you play a CRPG version to get in the mood as a DM. No brainer. There is a bestiary published with all NPCs and monsters for 5e Great AP. Quite novel - basically overthrowing a Tyrant. I made an extensive thread on the Paizo...

Paizo Ends Pathfinder Adventure Path Softcovers, Switching to Quarterly Model

Auto fo Auto correct… It’s Shackled City 🙄 Though it could probably be renamed Shattered City. I was pretty exhausted after running so many part. Like many Paizo APs it dragged towards the end and the combats become a slog.

Paizo Ends Pathfinder Adventure Path Softcovers, Switching to Quarterly Model

I got most of the hardcover compilations Paizo released, Shattered City, Crimson Throne, Runelords, Kingmaker. They are much easier to run through than juggling multiple different books and remembering which NPC or Item was detailed in book 3 or 4. Every AP that I ever ran or played in (about a...

D&D General D&D is now Steampunk (poll)

Isn’t steam a pretty vital component of Steampunk?

Dungeons & Dragons Releases New Unearthed Arcana Subclasses, Strongly Hinting at Dark Sun

My gut feeling is that it will differ from the UA, maybe not a lot. Not sure why. Could you be tempted to release any of the material you wrote for your Sins of the Scorpion Age for a Dark Sun setting?

Dungeons & Dragons Releases New Unearthed Arcana Subclasses, Strongly Hinting at Dark Sun

Not a given I don’t think. We didn’t for Eberron, Greyhawk or Ravenloft (COS was already a long time out at that point and wasn’t linked to the wider setting) The Planescape book is exactly what I would hope for. A good mix of setting/bestiary, players options, and adventure. 1/3 1/3 1/3. A...

Dungeons & Dragons Releases New Unearthed Arcana Subclasses, Strongly Hinting at Dark Sun

Really interesting thread. Just goes to show how much interest there would be if/when the setting is released. There are great conversions out there already @touc to name one. But I would love to see all the art, maps, and 3pp that comes with a big Wizards release. Not to mention the interest...

Freebies, Sales, and Charity Bundles for August 24, 2025

Ooh the Witcher bundle looks great. Been tempted by this for a long time, for the lore rather than the rules. For $15 and charity that’s a no brainer. Thanks for the recommendation.

What's the bare minimum for a VTT?

Yes, i need to see those ivories dancing. Without it, doesn’t feel like an RPG

What's the bare minimum for a VTT?

I admire the asceticism of a lot of the folks on here but honestly the bare minimum I expect is quite a lot, considering what is currently available out there. Maps that can be drawn on, pinged and highlighted with grids customisable and scale adjusted. I also expect to be able to alter the...

Other D&D Variant Domain play, what, if anything, do you use?

From a domain point of view as I recall it was almost identical.

Other D&D Variant Domain play, what, if anything, do you use?

The main problem with the domain system as I see it is complexity. Not running 3-4 PC kingdoms but effective deciding what the response would be from the dozens and dozens of NPC domains, guilds, temples, etc. that has always been the main issue for me. How to represent that! I have...

Other D&D Variant Domain play, what, if anything, do you use?

I agree. I always felt the whole holdings system was quite elegant. Abstract enough that it could fit lots of different cultures and societies. I particularly liked the way the domain books interpreted the holdings form abstract to the specific. So a Law 4 holding might represent a very...

Other D&D Variant Domain play, what, if anything, do you use?

I would be tempted to use Birthright as it is. It’s pretty system agnostic.

D&D 5E (2024) When are we getting announcements for 2026 books?

I agree. I think the only reason they are out is because they want Sorcerer Kings and Dragons to be unsurpassed. Apex predators. Without anyone to answer to. Not to mention that Sorcerer Kings are seen as gods by their followers. That wouldn’t make much sense of there were other gods in...

D&D 5E (2014) Ben Riggs talks to Richard Baker. Phandelver in 2018 alone sold 300k copies.

I think that people appreciate the simplicity and the fact that it is a very generic style that can be fitted anywhere. It harkens back to old school adventures. I agree with you, solid starting but hardly peak inventiveness. I’ve ran it and don’t see what all the fuss is about. Forge of Fury...

Cubicle 7 Announces New Horus Heresy RPG for Warhammer

I would be fine with that. It doesn’t feel like a simpler version of 4e though. It uses a completely different mechanical approach to resolution, dice pool. Which I think is a shame. That said I convert from Pathfinder and D&D to Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay so I’m sure TOW will not be a burden...
