    Warblade and Swordsage: Overpowered?

Just for the sake of adding to the Medium Armor + Fast Movement or Tumble situation, allow me to give my take on it from the perspective of somebody playing with all of the involved character options. My current character is a Barbarian1/Cleric13. I took the Barbarian for Rage and Increased...

New "What sort of RPG player are you?" poll (this one by Charles Ryan)

Hrm, I topped Storyteller (70) Character Player (60) Power Gamer (55) Weekend Warrior (55) So it looks like I prefer to tell a good story whenever possible, but I like to ham it up at the table while kicking the stuffing out of monsters and taking their lewt, too. Yup. Me as a player. --fje

    Warblade and Swordsage: Overpowered?

Honestly, personally ... unless you're a dedicated archer, D&D doesn't really reward you that much for having a bow. I say this because I'm playing a dedicated meleeist cleric, which can get big and beatstick better than the party fighter ... and, since I have a level of Barbarian, I have...

    A powergamer in a non-powergame.

I wasn't saying antagonize the GM. I was saying that the GM is a rube and if you're stuck playing with a rube then you're going to have to go down the same path. Personally, I figure the GM will like that style MUCH MORE than the one Tak is using now. Far from him saying: "Enough, sirrah...

    Warblade and Swordsage: Overpowered?

How about the fact that the book offers the maneuvers and stances on a 1-for-1 feat basis? If the stances are worth a feat in and of themselves ... --fje

Tome of Battle classes without the extras

I still want to get the book for the maneuvers and stances. Throw away the broken base classes, give the fighter some more neat abilities to pick up with feats ... boom, you've got a better fighter without creating munchkined out classes to make the guy that played a fighter feel like an idiot...

    Swift & Immediate actions

I think they're fine, really. Different, but fine. My cleric, as a battle-cleric, makes a heavier use of the Swift and Immediate type spells. Specifically a couple Close Wounds on hand and a Delay Death. Delay Death came in handy once ... Immediate action, character targeted cannot die from...

    A campaign I'm fed up with. . .

One of the hottest selling, and most rapidly growing, subgenres of "Fantasy" right now is the "Supernatural Romance" ... you can find these in both the romance section (for the totally overt bodice-rippers) and the fantasy section (for the books that, well, got picked up by those wings of the...

Wrong amount of experience for killing Crimson Death

Has the Crimson Death been converted over from 2nd ed AD&D? Man ... I totally forget how to do XP for 2nd Ed. THAC0 ... my brain ... shutting ... down ... <reboot> --fje

    A campaign I'm fed up with. . .

Everybody wants to be a writer. Especially if they like RPGs and WoD. I figure at least 98% of everybody that gets REALLY INTO WoD has a novel in their back pocket they've been working on for a couple years. A really really horrible novel. Because it isn't called the "Slush Pile" because...

    A powergamer in a non-powergame.

All of my house-ruled games have fact-sheets or, lately, game wikis, so that everybody can have a working knowledge of the rules of the game as the game will be played. I tend to like to play with Grim Tales or d20Modern with a few house rules on how Action Points work and a few additional...

    Dead Dragon

I'd say that if they don't want to make armor they could make 1 shield at Small, 2 at Medium, etc etc. My character had a helm and pauldrons made out of the choicer bits from a dragon we killed ... no in-game benefit, but it adds to the aura of menace when he kicks down a door and says: "I'm...

Cost of a Magical Mithril Shirt

Yea, the Mithril Shirt is Adventurer Jammies. Everybody should have one, really, even the wizard if he's not 12th level with a rod of Lesser Extend. Because we all know that if the GM says you should set up the campsite on the battlemat ... it's not a good night in PC-Land. --fje

    Shades, and Mages Magnificent Mansion...

I would say the MMMansion would work just like the spell says it does, but things like the invisible doorway prompts a save from passersby and if the save is successful it's only 80% likely to be really invisible at that point. Additionally, the MMM is on the Shadow plane and anybody inside can...

Mike Mearl's on simplifying skills in D&D

Blargh. I'm for combining some skills, which I've done in the past, or splitting out some skills ... right now the big issue is that "some skills are more equal than others". I think the proposal in the LJ is a giant leap backward for gaming. I think super-simplified skill systems are...

    Honor Herrington D20

IIRC, the fighting style was pretty much Krav Maga ... I think they called it the "fast punching" ... coup de vitesse, if my French hasn't left me entirely. But yea, just krav really. --fje

    Honor Herrington D20

Blood and Fists? Note that I stopped reading them about three books into the series. I liked the naval combat, but it's Horatio Hornblower (Honor Harrington ... MINDBENDER!) in space, really, and the "As The Galaxy Turns" melodrama forced me to set them down. I'm going through a: "I don't...
