    Wizard Or Sorc.

I've found the same thing in a campaign I'm in. I've found a spellbook but the campaign has our group constantly travelling to another part of the continent (often in the wilderness) so I haven't had any chance to buy supplies and translate those spells into my spellbook. So far I've been...

    Midnight - the dead

Why are they trying hard not to come back? (I'm just getting familiar with the Midnight setting.)

Scaling the challenge for the group or scaling the group for the challenge?

The adventure is a 4-6 person one from 1-5 levels. It sounds like the general consensus is that it'd be easier to make the group fit the module than the other way around. That definitely seems easier to me since I've never really dealt with CR before. I looks like we'll have at least three...

Scaling the challenge for the group or scaling the group for the challenge?

I'm going to be starting a Midnight campaign, based on a store bought module for 4-6 players, for my local gaming group. Due to one player having a new baby and others away from college for winter break, our group is down to three players. For a new GM (I've only GMed 2nd Ed. D&D about 5 years...

    Grafts

The Fiend Folio has a whole bunch (aberrant, demon, undead, yuan-ti and those big living construct guys). Magic of Eberron has a PrC that lets you replace body parts.

    Potionist/alchemist/splash damager

Did you mean Artificer? If so, that's definitely a good thought.

    Weapon Focus for Splash Weapon

Could you take Weapon Focus (Splash Weapon) or would you have to specify a specific type of splash weapon, ala Weapon Focus (Alchemist Fire) or Weapon Focus (Holy Water)? On one hand, "Splash Weapon" isn't "one type of weapon" like the feat requires. But on the other, is there much difference...

    Potionist/alchemist/splash damager

That's what I was thinking of too. A while back someone posted a concept of a splash damage throwing Rogue. I noticed that Magic of Eberron PrC and thought the two in conjunction could make a pretty nifty character. Although you'd only get 5d6 sneak attack damage (Rogue 10/Wiz 5/that potion...

How closely do you track daily expenses for your players?

Typically my DMs would only have us account for major items (weapons, armor, special equipment, etc.) but not worry about food, meals, clothing. But in a recent Ptolus game I am in, the GM has been having us keep accurate records of our weath and I really enjoy that. It puts an edge of realism...

    Slick, thanks all!

    Potionist/alchemist/splash damager

Aside from the potion PrC in Magic of Eberron, what other PrCs are there geared towards alchemists, potion-makers or splash damage characters? Tanks!

    Fire elementals

I was thinking more along the lines of disguising, not hiding. The Monster Manual says they have two arms made of flame that flicker in and out and have two blue flames that are presumably its eyes. So if it's sitting on a bunch of logs that have a circle of rocks around it at the center of...

    [Midnight] Defeating the Shadow

If I ever ran a Midnight campaign and wanted the heroes to beat Izrador I would have them find a super-powerful artifact that could send them back in time to when the big Good vs. Evil battle happened and let them duke it out then.

    Fire elementals

Do fire elementals light anything combustable that they touch? The Monster Manual only mentions it burning after a slam attack. But if it's standing on a pile of paper, will the paper catch fire? Or is it by will? Also, can fire elementals disguise itself as a normal fire (i.e., sit upon...

Is a combat familiar ever worth it?

Thanks for the ideas! I wanted to steer clear of dragon familiars because I wanted to have a familiar which looked as strangely warped as its master. So adding wings or scales to the familiar as per the PrC wouldn't make it look like a mad scientist's familiar. But a howler or blink dog with...

    Other Dragoncraft Items?

Hey Darkmask, I looked but can't find that Dragon issue. If it turns up I'll let you know. Sorry!

Is a combat familiar ever worth it?

Is Imbue Familiar with Spell Ability in the Spell Compendium? Also, I was thinking getting the feat that lets the mage and familiar switch damage that they take (I think from C. Mage). Or is it not worth the cost of a feat?

Is a combat familiar ever worth it?

I am making a Fleshwarper from Lords of Madness (mage PrC who grafts limbs and sensory organs from other races to itself) and thought it would fit well to have a stranger than normal familiar. I came across the Improved Familar feat from C. War which allows you to take a different familiar once...

Dragon Shaman (and other "aura" / buff classes)

One thing that makes the Dragon Shaman a little more nifty to me are the breath weapon feats from Draconomicon. They can help the breath weapon be used more often and there are lots that help change the shape, duration, etc. of it. Those extra options may appeal to you too!

    Those funny n00bies

One thing my friends and I still laugh about was my one friend's 2ed. halfling fighter. At character creation he bought some sling bullets. Since he had plenty of gold and sling bullets were so cheap, he spent 2 gold on bullets. Which gave him a total of 200 sling bullets. During the first...
