    Excerpt: skill challenges

Presumably if you design an encounter for a party of demi-gods you adjust things accordingly. All skill challenges are ultimately at the discretion fo the DM. If you know they are local heroes negotiating with a more powerful baron you also design the challenge apropriately. The example you...

Chaos with At-Will Cantrips, and Casting Discretion

Well I'm not sure what casting is like in 4e. But in 3e it involves speaking in a loud and clear voice while making obvious hand gestures. I suspect people might pay more attention to that then some of the ghost sounds you are creating. Of course who knows what things will be like in 4e and if...

    Conclusions after three play tests

The careful attack on the pregens was apparently in error. The actual attack is +10 to hit, but only does the base d10 damage (no +4).

    cracking the power code

Well probably one problem with test of honor is that it has a recharge mechanic, which is something only monsters appear to get. As a result I doubt it's worth negative points. Regarding point based systems, I do suspect wizards is using some kind of point system for powers, and I had begun to...

    Conclusions after three play tests

Perhaps, though he may have just done it the same way it would be possible in 3e.....first at the beginning of the fight and then any time he managed to run out of line of sight of any observers.

    Conclusions after three play tests

Well I don't know what the 4e rules are, but in 3e you can't hide from an enemy who is observing you without an ability like hide in plain sight. Concealment is not enough unless it's full concealment.

    Excerpt: Racial Benefits

+2 AC would be MUCH stronger then +2 damage....especially with more standardized armor classes. Going from 35% to be hit to 25% to be hit would be a huge reduction and much stronger then doing slightly more damage. Bonuses to armor class scale with your level. Bonuses to damage don't.

    GameSpy Reviews D&D Insider

Hmmm.....yeah it might be a MORPG.........but it takes more then 6 players on at once to make a MMORPG.

    The new multiclassing: comboclassing

It's not entirely clear to me exactly what the fighter-mage in the example gives up in order to have free access to all the wizard spells. He seems to have every ability that a fighter would get anyway, in addition to access to all of the mage abilities. He doesn't even have to give up his...

A Skill Challenge highlights the night...

The initiative thing might be more important if there are rules for a contested chill challenge or something like that. I had seen mention of diplomatic negotiations in which the people your convincing will use their skills against you as well. That was awhile ago though and I haven't heard much...

    Excerpt: Multiclassing (merged)

I agree with you on the ranger vs. rogue thing and I wonder if there isn't something we are missing in the shortened text. More importantly why wouldn't every striker class multiclass to ranger to get the hunter's quarry if it does in fact last the whole fight? Imagine how good that would be...

    Excerpt: Multiclassing (merged)

I wouldn't say the feat your spending to multiclass is much of a cost. If you look at the things it gives you, it seems to be signifcantly more then you'd otherwise expect to get out of a single heroic feat. If it gave you even more on top of that it would be pretty insane. On the fighter/magic...

    Excerpt: Multiclassing (merged)

Well you can only multiclass to 1 class....you may not want to make that decision based solely on what skill it gives. But it's unclear exactly how it works.

    Ray of Frost

The difference in damage between the 2 spells is likely to be extremely negligable once you've gianed a few levels. With say a 22 int and a +4 wand your looking at an average of 15 for MM vs. 13.5 for ray of frost. Probably there will be other bonuses too. So I don't think anyone would take MM...

    D&D 3.x Epic Destinies for 3.5

Note the once per day under artifact the artifact lord power. Not really sure what the troll thing your talking about is. Maybe your talking about using the priest power that grants temporary hit points over and over, but that doesn't heal nor does it stack (I don't think).

    swarm of minions attack!

Well 4 minions are equal to 1 monster. A monster with 2 attacks actually rolls just as many dice as 4 minions (because he has to roll for damage too). A monster with 2 attacks that each deal say 2d6 actually rolls more.

    Excerpts: Angels

Haha yeah pretty much....though in all fairness there was nothing left out here. No mention was made of angels having any ability to polymorph at all, people are just speculating on how to give it to them. And of course the ritual thing isn't all that different from other editions. How does a...

    Excerpts: Angels

The fact that it's such an incredibly simplistic concept does not necesarily mean it's good storytelling. In fact often more complicated things make for better stories.

    How do Pallies Defend?

More importantly the enemy gets hit but still ends his move an extra space away from the fighter. I'm generally more impressed with the battlefield control of the fighter too, but the paladin seems a bit harder to kill and has some extra utility.
