    They Killed Alignment

They didn't say that. They just felt that the difference between lawful good and other kinds of good is more clear and significant than the difference between neutral good and chaotic good. And so forth for chaotic evil and other evil. I tend to agree, insofar as I spend any time thinking...

Why don't clerics get Shield proficiency?

After a quick skim through cleric melee powers, it seems to me that they have less [W]-based damage than most melee classes' powers and more effects that require hitting but aren't otherwise affected by the cleric's weapon. This implies that the offensive advantages of having a two-handed...

Why don't clerics get Shield proficiency?

I think built-in shield proficiency would penalize the rawr-smash ones more, actually. A ranged character can still make good use of a shield, but a cleric who wants a two-handed weapon can't.

    D&D 4E Everyone's a swordsage; Thoughts on 4E after my first read-through.

I'm also sad that everyone's a swordsage, but only because I wanted everyone to be a warblade or crusader.

    Do Multiclass Wizards have Spellbooks?

I'm not sure if you're allowed to put spells gained from multiclass feats into the spellbook. Either way, it does specifically say "spell" and not "power", so you could only do that if multiclassing into warlock. And only for one daily and one utility.

Why don't clerics get Shield proficiency?

So my cleric of the Raven Queen can wield a scythe without wasting a class feature, of course.

    Quarterstaff and TWF

You strike with the butt end as circumstances warrant. You don't seesaw your weapon back and forth to whack with one end and then the other really quickly. Unless you want to lose a fight and look like a moron doing so. That goes for both staves and spears, naturally - the techniques for...

    Worst Race?

I'm very unfond of the rules for half-elves, tieflings, and humans.

    Quarterstaff and TWF

The removal of different damage types for different kinds of weapon also makes me happy. Now a spear or polearm wielder is free to narrate her attacks as being made with either the pointy end or the butt end of the weapon and it doesn't need to be represented mechanically. So even if you do...

Two-handed weapons -- nerfed, or am I missing something?

Also, greatswords are a little anemic in 4e. Greataxes are the damage-loving fighter's best friend this time around.

    Quarterstaff and TWF

I'm really happy with the quarterstaff changes. Flailing away with both ends is not how you use a staff!

    Question on Warlord

Many of the powers that grant Int or Cha based bonuses only do so if you chose the appropriate Presence option at level 1. It's entirely possible to do a warlord with only two attributes, but Str is always one of them. "We're more of the Charisma, Strength, and Intelligence school. Well, we...

    Tracking

There's a table of Perception DCs for finding tracks. There's also mention of using both Nature and Perception in a skill challenge to track people.

    Build me a Halberd+Puffysleeves Gentleman.

There's no rules specified for wearing a breastplate without a full plate harness, but I would just count it as scale. Less protection than full plate, but less restrictive and fatiguing too? The scale stats work perfectly. So, really, you just want a simple two-handed fighter build. Scale...

    D&D 4E 4e FAQ

No. Only the weapon dice count as [W]. Bonuses from race, feats, items, enhancements, powers, etc are separate and don't get multiplied. (PHB, p. 276)

Poll: Which Wizard 5th daily is best?

You've misread the text of Web. It immobilizes any creature that ends its move in the web, not any creature that ends its turn. If you spend your turn immobilized and then save, you didn't end your move in the web because you didn't have a move that turn. So you can walk out on your next turn.

    Low level teleportation

It's line of sight, you can only enter a space that you could normally be in but you don't need to able to walk to it, and it explicitly frees you from physical immobilizing/restraining effects. edit: Explicitly frees you from physical immobilizing effects, anyway. It's not entirely clear what...

    You're Marked..how and what'sum'up?

Well, that's why defenders get to do more than just apply a -2 penalty. Paladins get to throw a nice hit of radiant damage if the mark-victim attacks someone else. The two-handed-weapon fighter from KotS gets a free attack if an adjacent marked enemy attacks someone else. The...

Clerics need a wis of 20.

It's also not based on Wisdom. The lesson here is don't take a Str vs AC power when your Str mod is only +1. Leave the Str-based melee powers to the melee-oriented clerics with high Str, especially the dwarven ones who can take Dwarven Weapon Training and use military weapons. (Actually I...

    Elves making people Aware

As far as the half-elf diplomacy thing goes, I figured it's just because half-elves are all smoking hotties and having one hanging out with you makes you seem cooler and more impressive even if she doesn't say anything.
