    Appeal of the defender?

Berserk is anime... So the problem isn't defender classes per se, it's that they don't want to play guys with high Strength?

    Appeal of the defender?

Your players probably won't like paladins, but everything we've seen indicates that fighters will be damage-dealing powerhouses if you want them to be, equalling or even exceeding striker classes. Look at those DDXP pregen characters. The fighter does 3.5 less damage than the ranger using...

Multiclassing via feats; I want to pole all of you

That's necessary for the dipping-style multiclassing to work too, isn't it? This doesn't make me feel any better. I don't want to spend all my feats! And there are things about a class other than its powers that ought to be available.

Multiclassing via feats; I want to pole all of you

It can't be much worse than 3.x multiclassing. I'm concerned that it'll only work well for "dipping" and not for even mixes, but we'll see.

Why is Polar Ray an 8th level spell?

    Because you aren't reading everyone's posts? ;)

    Multiclassing via Feats. Thoughts?

Um, what about when you want to play a concept that isn't covered by any existing single class? Like gishes? I think the feat-based multiclassing will work great for that. I'm concerned that it won't work as well for even-mix concepts, but hearing that it's more complex than "one feat = one...

Healing Surges innate Blessed band aids

HERO 5e: Every character regains their Recovery in both Stun and Endurance after every few actions, and can spend an action recovering to do it extra times as often as they want. Granted, that only heals Stun damage and not Body damage... but D&D doesn't have separate resources like that. It's...

BO9S: Question about Charging Minataur Manuever

Also, with a normal bull rush you can only push your opponent multiple squares if you follow them square-by-square. With CM you can just slam into them and send them skidding back several squares while you remain at the point of impact. IIRC.

    D&D 3.x 3.5 is Anime! Wait, what?

Thank you. I'm so sick of bikini-clad warriors. Some artists should be banned from drawing women... Add me to the list of WAR-haters, I guess, based on this and that PHB cover. (Not sure what else he's done, but frankly those two pieces are enough to judge by. Ugh.)

What books describe a good magical world?

The Taltos novels, by Steven Brust. (I don't think the series actually has an official name. The first book is called Jhereg.) D&D-esque low-tech fantasy, but telepathy, teleportation, and resurrection (limited in similar ways to D&D's raise dead spell) are all commonplace, as well as other...

Is there a way to sneak-attack creatures immune to crits?

Complete Adventurer has a feat called Razing Strike, which requires spellcasting and sneak attacking and lets you expend a spell-per-day to get your SA damage against a construct (if it was an arcane spell) or undead (if it was divine). It also gives bonuses based on the level of the spell...

    D&D 4E 4e Knowledge

He's saying that rather than having a number on your sheet that you roll based on to see if you already know something, you could spend some time and GP to gather relevant information on what you're about to do, and get the "I know this" bonuses that way.

D&D 4E What place does dual wielding have in 4E?

I was hoping that they'd remove the idea of "dual wielding gives more attacks", 'cuz it's... kinda silly. But that doesn't seem to be the case based on monsters stats we've seen. However, I do suspect they'll limit it to one extra attack. In 3e dual-wielding had to keep adding more and more...

    Bards: Arcane or Shadow?

It's been mentioned just about every time that people wonder what the monk will be. I hate the idea, personally... we don't need "Asian" to be a power source. Samurai should be fighters.

    Bards: Arcane or Shadow?

Earlier on I was hoping that bards would be primal, so they'd be linked to druids as they ought to be. But now it seems like primal is more about the material world and stuff dealing with the Feywild is more arcane (such as eladrin wizards), so I want bards to be arcane. The fey link is...

    D&D 4E 4E is like WoW (NOT!)

The closest thing to "taunt" in Guild Wars is for a warrior to use a power that slows a monster's movement, such as the "Hamstring" sword attack, and then have the squishy run the heck away. The monsters are smart enough to realize that they can't catch up and will turn their attention to the...

    D&D 4E 4E is like WoW (NOT!)

Looking at the D&DXP characters, the fighter averages 10.5 damage and the ranger 14, using at-will powers and assuming the ranger has his target "quarried". (Which he can always do, but only if he wants to hit the enemy nearest to him, which undermines some of the advantage of being a ranged...

    D&D 4E 4E is like WoW (NOT!)

Uh huh. So when the very first people to ever play D&D with Gygax decided it would be smart to have fighters stand in front and the wizard stand behind them so the orcs couldn't get to him... that was an aggro rule similar to WoW taunts? I mean, it's a different implementation, but it's the...
