D&D 4E The 4e human racial package: what we know

Huh? There are definitely human-only feats. It's just that a human doesn't have to take them if she doesn't want to.

D&D 4E The 4e human racial package: what we know

Toughness is not a human-only feat. We've seen the text for it. It doesn't say anything about race. Plus it wouldn't make much sense if humans could take Toughness and dwarves couldn't. Humans get a bonus feat of their choice just like in 3.x, it seems to me. Spending it on a human-only...

    Healing out of combat

What fafhrd said. You can use Healing Word out of combat, but only twice per five-minute rest. So if you have a lot of healing to do you'll be resting for longer than five minutes, I guess. I don't like Healing Word much at all. It seems to undermine a lot of the cool stuff about the surge...

    D&D 4E My first 4e custom class: The WILDHAUNT, a Primal/Shadow Controller

This is a really cool concept. Except maybe the feral form part, but I've always had a hate-on for shapeshifters. :) I don't see why not. Paladins and swordmages are already two-source in concept even if they don't get any specific martial powers. We don't even know if there's going to be...

    Possible Scoop...Tiefling Page

Which is good, 'cuz it makes it feasible to quickly write up a PC-usable version of any "monster" race - you don't have to write out a whole levelling scheme of racial powers, because a PC can just choose general feats instead of racial ones and be perfectly balanced. A race written that way...

    Possible Scoop...Tiefling Page

Yeah... I'm hoping there'll be some racial feats to beef that up. +1 to hit and +Cha to damage, once per encounter, seems pretty modest even at level one, and as levels pile on that extra 5 or so damage is going to start looking very piddly.

    Possible Scoop...Tiefling Page

I dunno. Those tormented broody guys can get some serious action with the right kind of chicks. I'm more bothered by a race that waddles around with a giant useless tail having a Charisma bonus. I know Charisma isn't just Comeliness with a fancy name, but looking impressive should be part of...

    Rapid Assault

I just figured it was meant to be used with that full-attack-on-a-charge Tiger Claw maneuver.

Saving throws are a coin toss?

They don't make saves when you use the power. You make an Int attack against their Will or whatever to see if the spell effects them, and then on their turns they make saves to throw off the slowing/sleeping.

D&D 4E 4e: You Are Dead to Me

I still don't understand why so many old-school players think it's a big deal that they aren't going to play 4e and that we all need to be informed of it. I mean, everyone has their preferences and that's totally cool, but you don't see me going around starting threads about how I'll never play...

    Paladin. Disappointing

The shielding effect occurs whether or not the attack hits.

    Healing

Are you sure about that? It looks to me like Healing Word still uses up a healing surge, it just adds some extra HP on top of the normal surge amount. I guess the wording could be interpreted to mean that the target gets the 1d6+4 hp even if they don't use a healing surge, but I kind of doubt...

    Where are the rapiers?

Any conception of rogues that doesn't allow for Garrett or Vlad Taltos doesn't fly in my book. (I'll give you the Gray Mouser, since he might be more of a fighter/rogue and I do recall him at least once leaving his sword behind to go sneaking.)

    Question on mechanics of Trip

He's pretty much saying the exact opposite of what you seem to think he's saying.

    Rogue archetypal characters

Vlad Taltos... actually I'm having a hard time placing him. He doesn't seem especially charismatic or strong. Probably brutal scoundrel, just 'cuz he places a lot of emphasis on striking first and doing it right so that there's nothing to dodge afterwards. He's also a good example of a rogue...

Healing Surges: 6 + Constitution modifier

I think leader powers will be one way, but not the only way, to trigger a healing surge.

    New rogue powers and Bo9S

There are three classes in Bo9S, and they're basically a new version of fighter, a new version of paladin, and a kind of monk/gish thing. So there aren't many rogue-themed maneuvers, because they weren't trying to provide options for a rogue-themed character. The "Shadow Hand" discipline, for...

Warlocks with wands, staffs and daggers?

From the Design & Development article on magic items: So it looks like warlocks will have implements too, but perhaps different ones than wizards. (And they'll probably interact with warlock powers/class features in a different way.)

what magical armor quality reduces spell failure?

Twilight. I can't remember what book it's in or anything, though.

    Mastery of Swordsmanship

Just ignore that fluff. It's not like there are any lust-for-fighting mechanics. Literally everyone I know who uses Bo9S just treats warblade as fighter with different mechanics.
