    Dual Wielding Implements

There's a lesson about RPGs that I always to try keep in mind (and don't always succeed). That is, never try to find a creative interpretation of a rule to make things more balanced. If something isn't balanced, just change it. You don't gain anything from creative rules readings except the...

Is Fey Step really the best racial power?

I disagree. Humans got screwed too, except the ones playing wizards. :( Also tieflings, except the ones playing feylocks and wizards maybe.

Help reign in a player who refuses to play his role

QFT. Don't try to apply an in-character solution to an out-of-character problem. The dude is quite deliberately being a dick. You know it and he knows it. There's no reason to put up with that kind of crap.

two weapon fighting without off hand?

Page 104, middle of the right-hand column. It's an exclusive feature for rangers who choose the two-blade fighting style.

reliable how good? Forked Thread: Brutal Strike: not expended on miss?

The powers that most benefit from that sort of buffing are the ones that have little or no effect on a miss but compensate with a really strong hit effect. When the choice is between reliable or half-on-miss, I don't see that the availability of buffing much favors one over the other.

    Soldier of Faith Marking

Which you can't do. You can't use Divine Challenge on a creature currently affected by Divine Challenge. Why is it that so many people read the power enough to get the idea that it damages once per challenge but skip over that part?

Are ELADRIN attribute bonuses the MOST USELESS?

An extra feat does not balance against Fey Step anyway. What humans really have to offer is an extra at-will, better defenses, and the ability to take some very good racial feats.

Are ELADRIN attribute bonuses the MOST USELESS?

Well... because it applies to both longswords and spears, it's good into paragon tier for a two-weapon ranger who wants to use longswords in melee and javelins as a backup weapon for range. Except that such a ranger is already suboptimal because he's using longswords instead of bastard swords...

    Really stupid question about powers

As galaga said, [W] is the damage die from your weapon. Or damage dice, for the weapons that do 2d4 or 2d6 damage. (So 2[W] on a maul would be 4d6.) This is explained on p. 276. It should be explained in the "how to read a power" section, but it's not. :/

The mystery of SHADOW WASP STRIKE, Ranger3 Encounter Power

No, that's not a use for it at all. Such a cleric would take Evasive Strike instead, since Evasive Strike is better in every way.

    Opportunity Attacks and Qick Draw

Quick-drawing a sword to make an opportunity attack if you have an empty hand should certainly work. The real question is whether you can take a hand off of a two-handed weapon like that. I see no reason not to permit it, personally.

    D&D 4E 4E without Magic Items

Magic items didn't exist in real life a thousand years ago, either. :P It's not just basic lifestyle maintenance, though. Sometimes people want to do things like acquire titles and land, fund armies, buy ships, and so forth. Granted, in a game with no magic items you'll probably want to keep...

    D&D 4E 4E without Magic Items

Don't forget that when you reach paragon tier, you can upgrade your ale and whores to single-malt whiskies and exotic half-elven courtesans. (Seriously, "what do you spend your money on if there's no magic items" is a really weird question. What do people spend their money on in real life, then?)

Are ELADRIN attribute bonuses the MOST USELESS?

The overlapping defense complaint is nonsense. Eladrin get +1 to Will defense to make up for it, so they're not at all behind other races on defenses. Except humans, of course, but everyone is behind humans on defenses. The extra Dexterity is handy to all wizards because of Arcane Reach...

The best of feats, the worst of feats...

It's still a strong feat, though. +1d6 to two attacks per encounter and training in any of various good skills. Perception is good for any character, and Stealth and Acrobatics are fairly nice ones too.

The mystery of SHADOW WASP STRIKE, Ranger3 Encounter Power

It's actually pretty weak for an encounter power of any level. Most encounter powers do 2[W] + attribute with a cookie of some sort, or 1[W] + attribute if the cookie is really good. Shadow Wasp is 2[W] + attribute with no cookie and even a slight targeting restriction! Wtf?

    D&D 4E 4E assassin

Perhaps a rogue[warlock] with either of the shadow assassin or daggermaster paragon paths? There's no death attack, but death attacks are lame. Assassination is about arranging a situation where you can kill someone with a blade or poison or whatever, not about using some wonky unexplained "I...

Ghouls and other effects of first hit ?

You have to suffer one turn immobilized before attempting to save. Unless, of course, something happens before then that grants you a saving throw, like a friendly cleric using Sacred Flame.

    Paladin's Challenge Question

I agree that it's confusingly worded, but I really think you should rule that it's once per round regardless of what seems more RAW to you. Once per challenge just sucks for the poor paladin player.
