Great - but don't the starter sets serve this purpose already? Also, the combat example you gave with Becky the Fighter - I've seen similar things not just in D&D over the years, but in countless other RPGs. I guess I don't see how it would help.
Genuinely surprised by this. She seemed like a champion for the game and a very visible presence on their Twitch/YouTube channels. I did notice she backed off from Twitter quite a bit, but then... who can blame her (or anyone else) for that? All the best to her in any case.
I wish the Goodman conversions were available as PDFs. That is my sole complaint. Otherwise, I love them. For the past 6 months now all of my games have been online (Roll20) and not having at least a PDF version of Goodman's Keep on the Borderlands for example is enough to dissuade me from...
But neither of those are board games. Also, your opinion is just bad and probably not a popular one on a forum devoted to tabletop gaming. Are you just deliberately trolling? If so, then I guess you succeeded in that. I've taken the bait.
As far as the D&D/AD&D discussion goes... I was one of those confused kids who picked up Basic only to be told that it wasn't "real" D&D (AD&D if you had asked my friends). When I started DM'ing a year or so later - I was running a bastardized system that pulled from both Basic and AD&D. Even...
I backed this months ago (Sina Una) and am somewhat nervous due to a lack of updates. It looks wonderful though and I really hope to see it come through soon.
Depending on how common magic is in the setting - complete game changer as far as travel is concerned. Ships and conjured air elementals for example or just straight out flight either magically or with winged steeds such as griffons or pegasi. Cities being lit 24 hours a day - who needs torches...
Personally I'm going to continue as a DM running adventures/campaigns as I have before. If my group thinks something is out of line, they'll let me know. I'm not changing anything based on a disclaimer.
Nope... no matter what your intentions are nor the pains one takes not to offend... someone is going to be offended. Part of me thinks that cancel culture should come after Twitter as a whole and that we'd be better off without social media period.
That essay is full of errors. Two that jump out immediately are that the comeliness stat first appeared in Oriental Adventures and that Gary Gygax invented the alignment system.
