My main takeaway from that is from an article on the game stating that WoTC and maybe Tuque are interested in developing an open world (Skyrim or Red Dead style) game set in the FR. Now THAT is something I can get excited about.

Ok you got me there... personally it's really hard to tell that the 2e Pit Fiend has horns, but I guess they are in front of his ears. I can't find any 2e art of Asmodeus... I think they brought him back much later on if I recall mid to late 90s.

I hated this aspect of 2e. Not only did the names get changed, but they also removed classic demonic features in many cases like hooves, horns, batwings, etc. from the art to make them look less "demonic." It may have been a business decision, but it reeked of bowing to censorship and kowtowing...

How is it a cash grab? It's a free PDF... I think it's brilliant. Also, since I'm a victim of capitalism, where can I purchase a print copy?

This has always been one of my favorite images of D&D halflings. To me, they'll always be hairy-footed hole dwellers. That being said, I don't hate the 5e depiction of halflings... I reserve that for 3e halflings.

I love the fact that 5e is pretty much doing the opposite of what 2e did. I still remember all of the changes that were made to 2e in response to the "Satanic Panic" of the 80s. Demons & Devils changed to T'anarri and Batezu, etc. 5e is embracing the Hells, demons, devils, etc. whole-heartedly...

Definite improvement. Also, I've read a bit about what is being included within and this is now on my list. Even though I don't run games set in Eberron, it looks like there is plenty of content there I can use in my own world (or the Forgotten Realms).

I think the artwork is great, and I've purchased two of the 5e source books. Not sure that I would want to try a different system entirely though.

It's an impressive book all around with many ideas I would consider using at some point. The adventure is more of a mini-campaign and is really well put together. I'm happy with the purchase to say the least!

As a DM I'd rather have a player choose lawful evil than chaotic neutral. I agree with Morrus' take on this. Chaotic neutral usually translates to chaotic annoying.

Lost Mines is this generation's Keep on the Borderlands. That's not a negative comment by the way, but it really has become the default intro adventure for many. Also Greek mythology is frakking awesome!
