DR5/Deconstruction
For the record, I used to game with an English major who was obsessed with literary criticism. :D
Fair enough. I've never had a problem with Rule #1 ... or quitting a table.

All Aboard?
Although your definition is far too narrow for my tastes, I agree that "railroading" is a subjective label.
Let's face it, we all have different ideas about what constitutes a poorly-executed linear plot.

Logos!
You've struck paydirt here.
Dramatist and Simulationist styles both work out well in play if the plot hooks are interesting and clearly defined. A good plot hook connects the DM's plot and/or setting to character motivation(s).

Free Will = Illusion = Puppetry
If your players ever find out that you DM by this philosophy, they are within their rights to accuse you of thwarting their agency (i.e., railroading).

Mind is the Gamekiller
Psionics are for Vulcans, anime characters, and brain-eating cephalopods.
For the record ... I don't use psionics in my D&D games, and I probably never will.

Lame names?
The barbarians of my DM's homebrew world come from the Barbaronies, and his fey live in a forest realm known as the Fey Rie.
His nomads are called Nomandi; his goatherding peasants are known as the Gruffmen.

RE: Axing the Mags (Other)
Let me be clear, I do not support this marketing decision.
That being said, it is acceptable ... because we have no other rational choice than to accept it (i.e., I seriously doubt that Ha$bro sweats ENworld griefers).
