  1. The Thayan Menace

    TPK Your Entire Party

Evil is Live Spelled Backwards I have to disagree here, and with some of your earlier statements regarding the fratricidal nature of evil PCs. Although Seeten (and I) possess greater flexibility regarding alignment than you, I wouldn't necessarily say that our attitude constitutes metagaming...
  2. The Thayan Menace

    TPK Your Entire Party

Subtlety is Key Most wizards do not have access to silence spells, and scythes are fairly difficult to conceal. -Samir
  3. The Thayan Menace

    TPK Your Entire Party

3PK Forevah! Anyway ... on with the 3PK. sam500 needs a quickened scorching ray and three adjacent sleepers to pull it off. Good luck, bro! :) -Samir
  4. The Thayan Menace

    TPK Your Entire Party

Sophia! That's fine. Alignment is still a vital statistic, even without a paladin in the group. As other posters have ably pointed out ... it determines eligibility for core classes, spell effects, and access to prestige classes. Alignment also starts more arguments than anything else in D&D...
  5. The Thayan Menace

    TPK Your Entire Party

Logos! Agreed; I don't even know the guy. -Samir
  6. The Thayan Menace

    TPK Your Entire Party

Clarifications Nothing. A moot point. I don't game with players who absolutely refuse to alter their character sheet after one of my rulings. Which one? -Samir
  7. The Thayan Menace

    TPK Your Entire Party

It's a KFC 3PK! It depends on how much your DM adheres to the RAW. I'd say you could do it (with the Quickened Spell Feat) since: 1. Scorching ray a weapon-like effect. 2. It's similar to "capping" someone with a crossbow. -Samir
  8. The Thayan Menace

    TPK Your Entire Party

Logos Core! Agreed, I typically look at a wide pattern of PC behaviors when I consider they are actually adhering to their alignment. -Samir
  9. The Thayan Menace

    TPK Your Entire Party

It's My Prerogative As a DM, I have a fairly flexible view of RPG morality ... but I always reserve the right to change a PC's alignment if they are not played in fashion consistent with their stated ethos. A character concept ultimately belongs to the player who created it, however (IMO) a DM...
  10. The Thayan Menace

    TPK Your Entire Party

Moorcock's Curse Paladins aside, alignment is a vital statistical component of most D&D games ... especially regarding spell effects and qualifications for prestige classes. -Samir
  11. The Thayan Menace

    TPK Your Entire Party

3PK, Anyone? I digress. Let's not lose focus. A young man needs our help to kill his fellow party members. :D -Samir
  12. The Thayan Menace

    TPK Your Entire Party

Logos! I only did it once. Although I probably won't go there again, it was rather interesting to play a Velsharoonite necrophile. Agreed. Most of the time, but my priest of Velsharoon (CE) was a real party guy (Cha 16). ;) This is one valid approach, although I also believe that KarinsDad has...
  13. The Thayan Menace

    TPK Your Entire Party

Elite Gaming! I provisionally agree with this statement. As a DM, I always reserve the right to adjudicate alignment. However, I typically give players a chance to justify their character's ethos before passing judgment. -Samir
  14. The Thayan Menace

    TPK Your Entire Party

The Many Faces of Evil True ... however, in addition to avowed disciples of evil (e.g., Richard Ramirez), there are neurotic moralists who believe that they are evil (e.g., Carrie's mother). There are also amoral sociopaths who do not have the capacity to be truly reflective (e.g., Patrick...

One More Thing .... You'll also need to make sure that you're adjacent to all three targets ... at the same time. Good luck! ;) -Samir
  17. The Thayan Menace

    TPK Your Entire Party

What About Richard Ramirez? Although I applaud the fact that you play evil characters with depth, I'm not exactly sure this statement is true ... in D&D or IRL. Some individuals do consider themselves evil, and are quite proud of it. -Samir
  18. The Thayan Menace

    TPK Your Entire Party

Fun With Evil In my Crimson Reckoning (Thayan) campaign, I allowed only non-good alignments. It worked out fine. The PCs spent more time worrying about their scheming NPC opponents than each other. -Samir
  19. The Thayan Menace

    TPK Your Entire Party

The Nature of Evil Outright betrayal is one kind of evil, but it is not the only evil that exists. -Samir
  20. The Thayan Menace

    TPK Your Entire Party

True Dat! This valid criticism can be applied to all D&D alignments and codes of honor. -Samir
