Sure you can. My point is that I don't have a problem with a powerful character, as long as it's roleplayed well and makes sense. I also don't think there's anything wrong with playing a "wilderness rogue."

What's wrong with optimizing a character's ablities, as long as a reasonable backstory is chosen and it's roleplayed well?

Anybody watch this? I thought it was well done and informative. I was looking at a local radio station's webiste (they have contests for a lot of things), and for "The Dark Ages" quiz one of the prizes was for a D&D game set. http://www.q1043.com/main.html What did you think about this program?

I personally like starting games at 2nd or 3rd level, for beginner players or veterans. I just think you get a more fun character this way.
