    Forge of Fury: Deathtrap? (spoilers)

It's a Quaal's Feather Token from 'The Sunless Citadel'. It's part of the Kobold queen Yusdrayl's treasure lying on the altar-top behind her throne. If you don't get it by stealing it or by defeating the kobolds, you can get it as a reward for bringing back their white dragon, Calcryx.

    Forge of Fury: Deathtrap? (spoilers)

As I'm currently DM'ing The Forge of Fury, I just thought I'd bump this thread to see if anyone else have any FoF experiences they'd want to share. For instance, did any of you feel the need to add any content of your own? Did you replace any critter, trap or treasure with something you...

Heal skill used for actual healing of hit points?

Since 1e AD&D my group has played with a houserule where the actual binding of a wound restores 1d4 HP. In 3e, where everybody has more HP, I've upped the healing to 1d4 + wis bonus of healer. Currently the DC is 20 and it requires 5 ranks in Heal.

Is it just me or do any of you think Speed Factor on weapons should be brought back?

In 3e the Improved Two-Weapon Fighting feat (with a prereq of BAB +9) gave you an additional off-hand attack (for a total of two off-hand attacks). In 3.5 that prereq was lessened to BAB +6 and a Greater Two-Weapon Fighting feat was introduced, so you can get 3 off-hand attacks at BAB +11...

Is it just me or do any of you think Speed Factor on weapons should be brought back?

First, let me say that different weapon itterations only make any sense if they actually affect your number of attacks, and that to me this is the best way of mechanically addressing the idea that some weapons can be swung quicker than others. Still, I feel that the implementation we currently...

    Forge of Fury: Deathtrap? (spoilers)

I just started DM'ing Forge of Fury last session, and the party failed to neutralize the Orc guards, so when they came to the mountain door it was locked. At one time - while they were being pelted by arrows from the arrow slits - they actually talked about whether they could use the Tree Token...

DMs Help ME Sorcerer Just Picked Contingency!

While this may not be the intended usage of the spell, I think it would be a cool way of using it! If nothing else, it can explain how the high level Wizard knows exactly when to pop up...

    D&D 3.x Casting Defensivly - 3.5 rules

This is my current house rule: 'Casting Defensively: DC 10 + spell level + ref save of threatening creature' This way, it's easier than the standard DC 15 + spell level to cast deffensively when opposed by someone with slow reflexes, but harder against faster foes. So casting a 1st level...

Is it just me or do any of you think Speed Factor on weapons should be brought back?

I remeber seeing this before, and while it does have some appeal, there are a couple of reasons as to why I wouldn't use it. With that system someone using a dagger would get 7 attacks at BAB +19 vs a greatsword wielder's 4 at BAB +19. If you add greater weapon specialization, the dagger...

    Delayed Blast Fireball?

DBF did 1d6+1 per level in both 1st and 2nd edition AD&D. The second printing of the 3.0 PHB listed DBF as doing d8/level in the short description at the beginning of the spell listings (p.170), but in the spell write up itself it said d6/level (p.191).

Alternate Ability Score Generation by Rolling

In my current campaign all characters were created using the Elite Array (8, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15). I chose that as my first 3e campaign had too big a power gap between the lucky and the unlucky rollers, using the 4d6 (drop lowest) method. To add some kind of randomness while staying balanced...

    Granting more feats

My particular reason for doing this, is that I run a slightly lower magic game, so I thought this might somewhat compensate for the lack of items, etc. Also I have slowed the leveling progress by dealing out less xp, meaning more play time at each level. As such I thought it might be nice to...

    Granting more feats

I thought about letting characters get feats at every odd level instead of every third level (at 1st, 3rd, 5th, etc). Do you think this is a good or bad idea - and why? Has anybody here tried something like this? How did it work out?

    Perception...

I see. Instead of giving the players a new stat to keep score of, why not just make it a Wis check? This way, when you call out for one of those, your players will quickly catch on that there might be something spooky going on... And you can still call it a Perception check (for added flavor)...

    Perception...

Is this meant to replace Spot and Listen or is it something you use to notice those things that can't be seen or heard? If it's the former, I'd roll Spot and Listen into a single skill and call it 'Perception' if that's the name you like. (The Alertness feat would then simply become a Skill...

Sorcerer Fix - Continued from "D&D Rules" (PART 3)

When modifying a class, I try not to give out class abilities at the same levels as the normal feats. So I'd suggest this progression instead: 1, 2, 5, 8, 11, 14, 17, 20.

A true map-of-mystery? Anybody seen this?

Why not substitute the Kobolds with gobbos or something else, then?

A true map-of-mystery? Anybody seen this?

It's from a free mini module in their 'Cliffhangers Adventures' series. It was called 'Into the Forsaken Temple's Crypt'. Get it here. Edit: That's right, the map was also used for 'Start at the End'

Sorcerer Fix - Continued from "D&D Rules" (PART 3)

Some thoughts on the spontaneous metamagic issue: If this Sorcerer gains access to the UA Daily Use variant as a class ability, how are the metamagic feats he buys with his normal feats handled? When making my own - only slightly altered - Sorcerer variant, I was trying to create an unique...
