I've found that this time of year, especially around the holidays and with the potential for awful weather, we have a harder time getting together. But, even at more favorable times of the year, we do every three weeks at best, or once a month. That's with 8 of us, including 3 couples...

Interesting note on the piracy issue. A longstanding problem or just coming to a head recently? I know there's alot of debate over how much of an impact piracy really has in terms of revenue. Some say that those that download weren't going to buy anyways, or do it to sample before they do...

I have to agree with the sentiment of: why have seperate settings if they're all going to be the same? yes, they want to sell more books, but why couldn't they write some of those books to be more like tool kits instead of "this is the way it is". Manual of the Planes could have been 60-70%...

They certainly aren't. I'm just explaining to you why I find it all disconcerting, since you found that to be so unbelievable.

But see, for some of us, it IS unfinished. Yeah, you can run a game with it, but you have to admit, it sure is missing a whole lot. They set their own deadline by the way. I'm not sure the marketing plan of hoping everyone that plays will now buy every book that comes out is a sound one...

And the designers have already said that some things that are being held off for future books were things they couldn't quite get right yet. Things they had yet to figure out with the new system. Which is a little disconcerting.

Guess that's all the answer we need.

I think the first sure sign of a problem would be a massive marketing survey surge this summer, with questions along the lines of: What do you not like? What would you change? What DO you like? Followed shortly by 4.5. :)

I think the first thing I'd have to house rule to fix would be the economy. :)

Explaining how it works or why it works isn't the problem for me, its just the fact that it didn't exist before. I know, its new, but that doesn't mean that ret-conning it into game worlds (including homebrews) that are 20+ years old works for some of us. It would be wonderful to get some...

Skill Challenges are one of the aspects of 4th Ed that seem to have not been adequately playtested.

Cannibalism is always a nice dietary supplement too. :p

I hope the "same sculpt/repaint" issue doesn't kill the new line before it has a serious chance. I can't tell from those pictures...any dragonborn in there?

Yeah, I kind of have trouble with it too, it doesn't seem to have a root in any other mythological source...at least any that I'm familiar with. I think invisibility would have been a better idea. I can live with it though, its just a new theme for D&D.

Kill: 2E, started out nice and hot, but became too contradictory and bloated by the end. Marry: 3E. May not be perfect, but I can ignore or overlook the flaws. Can be complex, but I know how to get to her good parts. :) Make Whoopie: 4E. Fresh, young, and very spirited, but I'm not sure yet...

I'm not bothered by the lack of the Table, but I'm not interested in DDI at all, I'll be just fine without it. What concerns me is the fear that much of the "plan" for 4E revolves around the DDI and the various online apps. I worry that resources that would/should go into the book publishing...
