Wow! Someone really IS grumpy! I get what you're saying to a degree, it does seem like alot of current game design (across the whole spectrum of the gaming universe) seems to lean towards the "precious snowflake" trend.

WotC changes how D&D mini's are going to be sold.

And we still don't know exactly how those power cards may be packaged, so they could still end up "collectible". So you may be objecting prematurely. As may we all. However, the monster packs, containing monster and stat cards, despite showing you 1 mini, will still be blind and randomized...

WotC changes how D&D mini's are going to be sold.

Plus, its important to point out that the price of raw goods probably has a bit to play in that too. I know oil prices have dropped, but I wouldn't be surprised to find out that WotC has been carrying some of the added cost on their own for a while and has finally reached a point where they have...

When did I stop being WotC's target audience?

I feel a little like the OP, but I can see how I'm not the target audience. I used to be a completist, but haven't been for years. I realized I don't have to buy everything that comes out. Don't know if that's because I'm getting older, or if I'm just getting more practical in terms of what I'll...

Hasbro Quarterly Conference Call, Summary as to WOTC

A note on Heroscape: haven't seen it in local stores lately. Not sure what that means. Could just be the Louisville region, but I'm not thrilled with the fact that is seems to be quietly disappearing. So what are D&D's expectations? With a new edition coming out this year I would think it...

WotC changes how D&D mini's are going to be sold.

I think this is a big step forward when it comes to the minis, and I applaud the move. The price seems pretty fair too, so long as the quality improves over what we've seen in the last few sets. However, I completely LOATHE the idea of collectible powers now. Hopefully anything they do with...

Hasbro Quarterly Conference Call, Summary as to WOTC

Interesting. MTG gets a mention as selling particularly well, but nothing about 4E DnD? Although in all fairness its supposed to be selling really well. I'd love to know how the figures for 4E sales stack up to 3E and even 2E for that matter. I guess I just find it hard to believe that DnD...

Scales of War #4 is up!

Just a minor hiccup I'm sure. Not something that should be a common occurence for a paid subscription. (sarcasm? You decide!)

    So..um..how's that GSL coming along?

Comical isn't the word I would use! ;)

Is the economic crisis affecting your gaming purchasing?

Hasn't changed my habits at all. I can't touch my 401K for 27 more years anyways, and I have good credit, few bills, and a nice house (that I can afford). I've cut back on purchases in the last few years anyways, simply because I never have the opportunity to use most splat books. I just spend...

What's the most significant difference you've found with 4e from 3e?

Let me add the design and running of Monsters is vastly simpler and a whole lot more fun. Prepping and running the game is much, much simpler for the DM. However, player choice of powers seems too limited for now, and some of my players and myself aren't too keen on the fact that as you gain...

    DDI subscriptions go live tomorrow!

I think the RPGA articles should remain free. Especially if you're trying to grow the hobby. Isn't membership into the RPGA still free?

Are you buying a DDI subscription?

No for me. Some of the content has been decent, but not enough that I'd pay for it each month. I despise the idea of on-line subscriptions anyways.

    Rate 4e Dragon Magazine

I give it a 3. The content has been pretty decent so far, and I've enjoyed most of what has been presented. Not a big fan of the lack of a printed magazine though, and also not real confident in the schedule being met on time.

Unhappy w/4E monster manual..3PP pls. publish monster books pronto!!

I don't think it was a bad book, but it did leave me feeling slightly disappointed in what was missing. However, given how easy it is to create monsters in this edition, I feel pretty good about statting up whatever I need now. Like an earlier poster said, its very easy to re-skin most of the...

    Deva or Aasimar?

yes...but Deva carries so much "real-world" connotation with it that I wanted something original.

    References to Barbarian playtest vanished?

I got no problems with it. Wizards could really head off alot of the conspiracy theories and nerd rage with a little communication though. A simple blurb saying: Sorry guys! It's just not ready yet, but it's coming! That would take a lot of wind out of the outrage sails.

    Deva or Aasimar?

I'm fine with Deva, much better than Aasimar. However, in my campaign, they'll be called "Lumaren", as they are filled with an inner divine light.
