    D&D 5E (2014) The Great Mystic Story?

It's also important that the origins of psionics differ in some degree from one setting to the next. The end-source could be the same, if just left anonymous, but I think giving more ways to access that source is positive.

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D 5E Does flanking grant advantage ?

How in the world is the OP question a "topic drift"? Does flanking grant advantage, was the question, verbatim. What does flanking do, is merely a reproduction of the question without the term Advantage. That's not topic drift. I'm pretty sure this is all about disagreeing and arguing just for...

Not using Grid / minis / pawns

I haven't used a grid since AD&D, and never in a game I've gamemastered. If a situation becomes so nit-picky that a grid would be needed to resolve it, I just grant whatever positive result would be available to the PCs. I don't like to get bogged down with needless minutiae. I've always used...

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D 5E Does flanking grant advantage ?

How is every page of this thread the exact same conversation.. It is about what flanking does. Not the ethics of using optional rules. Can we carry on now? Maybe more alternate ideas for what flanking could do?

    Making cities feel alive?

Mechanics or population aside, I believe the best way to make a city feel alive is to have its goings-on perpetually moving and changing, like an actual creature. The PCs should know that this place is bigger than them and will keep going at a fast pace regardless of their presence. Keep track...

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D 5E Does flanking grant advantage ?

I didn't think it necessary, as you already did in your prior post. As for the optional rule/house rule conversation, which is pretty much a ridiculous topic to care or fret about.. House rules are created by the table to modify a game beyond given rules within official sourcebooks. I would...

    D&D 5E (2014) Psionic doubt

Basically, because it's easy. Boring? Yes. Maybe they think psionics players don't want too much under the hood to run a character, but I think that may be the opposite at the tabletop. We, at the very least, want something very different and new .

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D 5E Does flanking grant advantage ?

Yet the situation mentioned wasn't based on inconsistency, but valid use of intellect, deemed appropriate by the DM. In both cases above, passive/aggressively insulting others is still insulting..

    D&D 5E (2014) Dungeon Master's Guild: The Long Term

No worries, Sacrosanct. I was more being practical over doom and gloom. From a business perspective and being self-employed, slipping in ads and permissions can generate additional revenue. But I hope I don't see it happen.

    D&D 5E (2014) Dungeon Master's Guild: The Long Term

So if this is going to turn into the App Store, I wonder how long until the embedded permissions start. If it generates profits, it'll happen. Or even ad placement within large releases, or page-flip pop-ups. Yikes.

D&D 5E (2014) Last Hurrah mini-campaign: Looking for brilliant ideas for an adventure to end all adventures

Run a riff on the classic Baldur's Gate, with tons of Easter eggs and nods to other books and settings on side-quests and visited areas. Make sure to place a previous character or two from each player within the game as well. The end could be gathering powers of dead gods to knock the others...

D&D 5E (2014) Any one have any clue about the DC to apply poison?

So, zero examples for a less-confident DM are more empowering than any examples? I see where you are going, and I understand the thought process, but I have never seen that method work out in real tabletop play by anything but an already well-seasoned DM. Little things like this tend to bog down...

D&D 5E (2014) What if Psionics is a kind of Divine magic?

I'm in the same boat as you, Ralif. I've always loved the concept of psionics in D&D, but the rules have never made a proper fit. In 3.5, you either made a completely worthless psionic character or a machine of destruction, mechanically, and neither really felt like anything but reskinned arcane...

D&D 5E (2014) Any one have any clue about the DC to apply poison?

That's a whole lot of should for two words in a brief tool description. Most likely that is the direction of intent, yet vague doesn't quite sum up the information about it. And if that is the original intent, there are no examples in the core books about applying improper poisons or applying...

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D 5E Does flanking grant advantage ?

I'm not a fan of scaling/additional modifiers. Enemies are already easy enough to bit without two-on-one-ing every baddie to get another bonus on top of advantage. Even something as simple as Flanked Targets may not gain Advantage, or are at a Disadvantage when attacking while Flanked...

D&D 5E (2014) Any one have any clue about the DC to apply poison?

Well, the Poisoner's Kit does state add your proficiency bonus to any ability checks you make to craft or use poisons. The bolded text implies there is a DC to using poisons that the Poisoner's Kit applies to.

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D 5E Does flanking grant advantage ?

While I do agree with you, the small AC boost is, IMO, is more balanced when combined with other mechanics.

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D 5E Does flanking grant advantage ?

I would rather use a houserule that stated "When two or more combatants flank a target, those combatants gain +1AC against that target until it is no longer flanked." As someone who was training in basic swordplay through karate, years ago, my experiences show that it would be harder to hit...

    What 5e got wrong

While there are flaws, they are only exaggerated by us exploiting them, as we ourselves are flawed. The 6-attribute system is simple enough if you play them as written, using them in their proper form. However, the dump stat ideology is only a flaw because we, looking for mechanical exploits...

D&D 5E (2014) Any good (free) character builders now that SRD is out?

The roll20 article mentions they have an OGL 5th edition character builder now. At least, my spotty memory is telling me that. I would check that out and relay the ins and outs of it to our masses here.
