D&D 5E (2014) Monster Manual soon to be in the wild!

You are most-definitely going to need permission by WotC before posting images of the MM interior. That'll get the hammer put down on ENWorld for copyright infringement, if they so choose to push the bill.

D&D 5E (2014) Immunity to Charm, Command spell

I dig the Ferris Bueller gif, Kobold Stew. I actually drive by that house every year when the family drives by the Lincoln Park christmas lights north of Chicago. It's on Beech street, right off of the lake. It's been for sale for like a decade. Good work on referencing conditions. The word...

D&D 5E (2014) Immunity to Charm, Command spell

I have to agree with the OP, in that the spells function on completely different concepts. If it was immune to Enchantments, it would say that and not just Charm. Charm Person is a specific spell, causing a target to see the enemy as a friend for a duration. You cannot tell a Charmed creature to...

D&D 5E (2014) I think we can safely say that 5E is a success, but will it lead to a new Golden Era?

I neat house-rule to try could be to allow advantage up to the ability modifier for whichever ability score is being referenced in the roll. Strength of 16? Roll 3d20. Disadvantage could be static(with negative stat adjustments, etc) or based off of an enemy ability modifier, if it pertains to...

D&D 5E (2014) I think we can safely say that 5E is a success, but will it lead to a new Golden Era?

3rd edition definitely took the longest for character creation, especially if you owned a few splatbooks. I think that is why people have shied away from the OSR-style of prompt and often character death, due to that longterm creation process. AD&D2e could get likewise carried away with...

D&D 5E (2014) Monster Manual soon to be in the wild!

I can't take the credit for the Ducks hat nor the pink fingernails, nor the high-quality written product in-hand. It is a random picture from Mike Mearls's twitter feed, and not a picture of myself. However, I second your question about monster listings to anyone who might have one.

    D&D 5E (2014) Minor rant - y'ever just hate your players' characters?

Try running some quests that are just as quirky as your initial intentions, with combat being a failure of the scene and not a success. The group has to investigate something unusual, maybe something ghostly or from the Far Realm, only to not be able to catch/attack/fully-see it, and can't prove...

    D&D 5E (2014) Minor rant - y'ever just hate your players' characters?

The problem with that point of view, is it isn't appreciated by everyone. It isn't appreciated by a large portion of GMs. The seat-of-your-pants GMing-style that is mostly subservient to a group of open-world PCs with no direct line to their goals except ruining immersion until a goal is reached...

They are already in hands! I was pretty happy to see this picture, yet the fingernail polish may have been a little overboard. (EDIT: double-posted this in two threads.. my bad!)

    D&D 5E (2014) 5E Monster Preview: Bulette

Now that we know the Monster Manual with be a special-event-release at GenCon today for Weekend D&D pass owners, these sudden and often monster pages make a lot more sense. Cross your fingers for a similar DMG treatment!

D&D 5E (2014) Monster Manual soon to be in the wild!

It's a pretty damn good PR idea to aim for a later date and release early, instead of the other way around. Could you imagine how badly the internet fans would react to a late book release? They'd be calling for heads to roll and how bad 5th edition has fell from prior editions. Giving Mearls...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5E Challenge Ratings

A Bugbear has 4HD and a CR 1, yet a Commoner has 1HD and a CR of 0. That is only a difference of 1, and a massive difference in the scale of life or death for a character. The proof is in the pudding.

    I completely agree. Very majestic.

I use Milestone XP in most of my campaigns, for many years now. It also helps line up the party for tougher arcs and that sometimes-needed advancement.

Two-handed weapons are strictly labeled as such. A quarterstaff is a Versatile weapon, which can be used with one or both hands and do more damage in both hands, so it still qualifies as a Monk weapon.

    D&D 5E (2014) Finally

There is very little detail on the many gods, aside from alignment, suggested domains and symbols. It only mentions Tymora being a goddess of fortune and Shaundakul is not present in the Realms list. I think you will see this type of detailed information in the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting...

    D&D 5E (2014) Finally

It's still Touch range. It deals Disadvantage with a chosen Ability and Saving Throws using utilizing it. Disadvantage on attacks against caster. Chance to do nothing for a turn on a failed save. Target takes extra damage from attacks and spells by caster. Pretty nifty.
