D&D 5E (2014) Chris Perkins AMA (10:30 AM PST on Thursday, February 25) on DnD subReddit

The questions people are asking Perkins are facepalm-worthy. Ignoring the slew of "omg ur so gewd!" brownie point comments, there is only a small percentage of meaningful questions. Reddit...

D&D Movie Takes Cues From GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

Just put the Icewind Dale Trilogy in Spielberg's hands and take my money.

    D&D 5E (2014) Creating a spell book as loot for a wizard

I rarely left spellbooks. If I did, they were destroyed aside from a handful of pages identifiable over a full evening of translation. A 3.5 game I played in had an issue with the wizard constantly getting scrolls and spellbooks. Eventually the party felt left behind, as the fighter classes...

    D&D 5E (2014) Income

I've done this a few times with differing success. The same couple players in each game fought the idea in-character or derailed it with bad roleplay. Demanding the Baelnorn patron sell them ancient family relics for cheap was one such demand. Pfft. It really depends on your players, but it can...

This book belongs to the Half-Blood Prince.

D&D Movie Takes Cues From GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

I want this to be good. My kids love D&D as much as I, and I want it to be good, for all of us. That said, I really, really hope they don't use real-world songs for the movie. Please write a real score. And absolutely no shiny-lipstick-Damodar-like guy. Ever.

D&D 5E (2014) Is the stat system biased against front-liners?

I think the health/damage system is far more biased than stats. Many attacks, in other systems, would be shrugged off by front-liners. Whereas D&D just keeps eating HP which adds up quickly at low-to-mid levels. Con Saves to simply avoid or take-half of a certain amount of damage would do...

    D&D 5E (2014) Ravenloft= Meh

That's a benefit of being thrust through the mists into the unknown, over a full-blown in-Ravenloft campaign. The PCs are on their heels and the players have to learn a new way to approach adventuring on-the-fly. That said, I'm not a huge Ravenloft fan, but I do play it. I prefer gaslight...

D&D 5E (2014) Chris Perkins is polling settings on Twitter!

No PlaneScape makes Homer something something.. I would love to see Greyhawk, but it isn't largely different from the Forgotten Realms. Dark Sun or Eberron or PlaneScape, reverse order.

D&D 5E (2014) Cleric vs Paladin: Concepts and Mechanical realisation

LOL. Mine is other people breathing about D&D near me. Yuck. While I do love paladins and clerics as npcs in games I run, I rarely play them. I played a paladin of Zuoken in a short playbypost game recently, which was fun, but they are too specific for me as a class, I think.

D&D 5E (2014) Cleric vs Paladin: Concepts and Mechanical realisation

Early clerics were holy warriors. At some point, paladin's became a thing in D&D and supplanted the Cleric, creating two similar but different classes.

So, it's clear to me that Perkins traded his hands for a CAD unit.

D&D 5E (2014) How to Make Firearms Powerful But Not Crazy in 5E?

We used 1st-level evocation wands from 3.5, and had them just look like firearms. Randomly roll charges if the PCs pick them up, and a check every use for NPCs to determine if any ammunition remains. We also brought back the Use Magic Device skill, to give PCs the trained skill to use one...

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Psionics and Mystics Take Two

A detection ability like "Sense Minds" would be cool for this. Roll a d20 with a possible modifier and the total is the level of Intelligence scores you sense in your immediate area without seeing them. 14 would be all INT14 and lower in a specific range. You can get a higher modifier by...

    D&D 5E (2014) Help with a personality

Play into his background information. That, first and foremost, will personify your character better than anything else I can say(type?). Use it, add subgoals and traits to the entries of his background, to round out each facet. Make sure you are diligently/aggressively playing it and pursuing...

    D&D 5E (2014) Expedition based adventuring

Also, it's hard to make the players care about laborer losses, unless there aren't enough to go around and each one is vital and has a personal relationship with the party. Many real-world executives see laborer losses simply as numbers to replace and I can't imagine a busy adventuring PC...

Not to come off snarky, but I literally have the definition within the question and I only had three sentences in the post. It's just an odd wording, like they meant to say veil, instead. The layout looks great and I love quality physical books, a reason why I enjoy FFG and C7 products. I...

CONAN! The 4th Most Anticipated RPG Of 2016 Funds In Two Hours! Preview Here!

The first paragraph in the Hyborian Age chapter reads, "but the great black vale of eternity remains.." The great black valley of eternity? Ugh. I'll be backing this, for sure, but that bugs me.
