The reasons why "novel-talk" is taboo on WotC Boards?

The assumption was mine, that some one who refers to the authors as "ametures" or "cronies" was not enjoying the books. My apologies for the misconception..... That having been said, I just want to say: I don't know how I ever didn't notice Candlekeep, but after the "recommendation" by this...

Want to recommend a book, or a series of books?

You said you have read American Gods. If you enjoyed that, I have to recommend going back and reading some older Deil Gaiman, like Neverwhere and Good Omens. Very good books.

The reasons why "novel-talk" is taboo on WotC Boards?

I very much enjoy gaming, and I very much enjoy the "pulp" fantasy novels put out. I very much enjoy the FR, gaming in them and reading the novels. Yes, I know that the novels often cannot portray the "action" or "mechanics" the same way the game does (but is that not more a short-coming of...

    the spontaneous divine caster

What do you propose for all the necromantic prestige classes that require it then? Just leave that little part out? (I like the idea, because I agree that it makes undead scary again, but I was wondering how to more flesh out that idea.....)

    the spontaneous divine caster

And you are right, they don't turn undead, but you could give it to them if you want them to replace Clerics.

    The Fey-Ri

dravenlore.... The fey'ri in the novels fall under two categories. The "high-born" house, which ARE mostly half-fiends, and the "low-born" houses, which have one or two half-fiends and mostly fey-ri. Basically though, a Half-Elf Half-Fiend who mates with another elf has fey-ri.

    Feat every level...

I am kicking around the idea of using the idea posted earlier in the forum, about granting a feat at every level, but I have a problem with that, the fighter. This would seemingly strip the fighter of uniquness/usefulness, so I ask, what should be done to change the rules/fighter to balance...

    Elven High Mage Question

The Elven High Mage, from Races of Faerun, pages 182-183, has an ability called Seed Affinity (Ex). This ability, reduces the base DC of a chosen seed by two. I have a question about this. Does this only affect the DC of an Epic spell you create BEFORE you create it, or is it retroactive...

How I like to be 'DMd'

~I like a DM who knows the rules, but also has common sense. (Not to bring up old wounds on these boards, but a flaming whip is still hot, so still hurts.) ~I like a DM that can encourage roleplaying, though support the guy who wants to be just the fighting and killing machine. ~I like a DM who...

Adding stunts to D&D & using feats you qualify for

Why not make it cost an action point? I personally say there needs to be more diverse options for action points, along with more action points in general......

    Fey'ri

It is +2, or +3 if you have EITHER Damage Reduction, or I think Fast Healing, though is can ONLY be one......

    Suggestions for Campaign settings?

Or, there is Scarred Lands. I have only skimmed the surface of it, but to me it seems like Forgotten Realms, minus all the ultra powerful characters. High magic, high mortality (mostly because of strong monsters.).

    Assess: "Studied Spontaneity"

Or, is you want to spontaneous cast as a Wizard, you can invest the time to become a Magelord, out of The Lost Empires of Faerun. If you devote yourself to that class, and take Spell Mastery alot, after some time you could probably whip a sorceror.....

    Assess: "Studied Spontaneity"

I would make some minor changes to Studied Sponteneaity.... Make the spell slot be designated when the feat is taken, not able to be changed, and one level lower than the highest level spell he can cast.

    "Epic" Spells

Although Karsus' Avatar is the only spell stated out, in The Lost Empires of Faerun it states that most spells in the time of Netheril had both an Epic and regular version, though all the regular version were lost/unable to be used after Karsus' Folly causing the split in the weave.

A Master Classes List For D&D

Also missed the Shaman (OA). I know it is similar to the Spirit Shaman, though it is not the same thing and warrants still being its own class.

Charging, Cleave, Spring attack and AoO...

On a large scale, it may not be mechanically sound, but can easily be justified to make sense though. First of all, combat is not only taking place during your turn. It is assumed that you are active, mobile, aware, parrying oncoming attacks, feinting at the enemy, and all other manner of...

    "Epic" Spells

Kerrick Did you have a set system for converting Epic Spells into non-Epic status? Or did you just wing it? Can you point me in a direction to do this?

Charging, Cleave, Spring attack and AoO...

Can't it be justified that the reason you can get a Cleave of an AoO is because, when that person dropped, it made an opening that the person thought was covered by his ally, or distracted and/or unnerverd him just enough to let an attack slip by?

    "Epic" Spells

Sorry, maybe I was thinking of someone's house rule that those weren't around. You were also right about the frequency of the Bonus Epic Feats for the Wizard. I just still don't think that it makes an sense that the only way for Wizards to continue gaining new levels of spells is through...
