Doctor Who 60th Anniversary Specials [[SPOILERS!!]]

I thought Moffat's first season was probably the peak of new-Who's quality. Sadly, he never really lived up to it after that. Indeed, by the end I was thinking Douglas Adams might have had the right idea - get in, do one season, and get out.

D&D General The most played D&D Adventure of all time

I'd tend to agree LMoP is probably #1 by now, with B2 dropping to second. Third is an interesting one, though - there are quite a few that I could think of that might fit that bill. Of course, there's no way of knowing anyway. But it's fun to speculate. :)

Surely that's "Monty Python and the Holy Grail"?

[Kobold Press] Tales of the Valiant Game Master's Guide is Live!

Slightly unfortunate timing, this - it's certainly a product I'm interested in, in theory. But I'd much prefer to have the other two books in-hand first, so I can decide whether to take the plunge or not. I'll give it some thought over the next few days; there's no enormous rush, after all.

D&D General 5E Retrospective: Dissecting the MM and the DMG

I don't necessarily agree that all alphabetical is the best approach, but I do agree with this - if that is your choice, actually stick with it! :) I'd recommend "Dragon, Red (adult)" - keeps all the dragons together, then the colours together, and then separates the age categories. That said...

D&D General 5E Retrospective: Dissecting the MM and the DMG

The MM is my favourite of the three 5e core books, but it's not my favourite MM of the various editions (that would be 2nd Ed's "Monstrous Manual"). As always, it suffers a great deal from being the book that has to include all the iconic monsters while also being the first monster book for the...

What is, in your opinion, the single WORST RPG ever made, and why is it so bad?

The only really bad experience I've had was with Shadowrun 4th Ed. However, I'm far from convinced that that's the fault of the system.

    Terrible sequels

Superman III (which I hate saying, since it was the very first film I saw in the cinema), and certainly IV. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is an odd one - the sequel, Sword of Destiny, is mostly terrible, but then the final battle is great. Plus, Michelle Yeoh, so... Toy Story 4.

D&D General Help: What to do with physical books?

I've been lucky enough that when I've cut down my collection it was always by choice rather than due to a move. But, for whatever it's worth, my decision process was: Firstly, any game I'd never actually played went. Likewise, any 'orphaned' books (that is, supplements for games I don't have...

New Star Trek Cinematic Movie Coming to According Deadline

How? Surely the 2009 "Star Trek" film is the origin story?

D&D General Industry Veteran Jennell Jaquays Passes

Well, that sucks. Rest in peace. And @Retreater is absolutely right about that "Campaign Sourcebook and Catacomb Guide" - possibly the single best RPG book I own, for any game and any edition.

DnD while married/relationship - any advice

I have an understanding, but strictly non-gamer, wife. Being married made virtually no difference to my game-time - we always gave each other space, and it was fine. Having kids, though, has basically been the death-knell to my gaming. I now basically have no free time, and even if I could...

Rank the Star Trek TOS movies

I find Generations extremely frustrating - there's a lot there that's good, right up until the point where Kirk reappears. But after that it just doesn't work for me at all.

D&D 5E (2014) DM imposed restrictions to the game (+)

I typically allow anything from the PHB except multiclassing, and then a few selected elements (especially subclasses) from other sources. But unless something is explicitly included, it is excluded. Oh, and we don't use alignment. So I guess those are all excluded. :)

    D&D 5E (2014) Do we need a Fifth Edition Revival (5ER)?

I think it's too soon to be talking about a 5e revival, largely because we don't know what the 2024 revision will bring in terms of the OGL/CC - it's possible that the pendulum within WotC has now swung back towards being more open, and an update to the SRD quickly follows the new books; it's...

How well do you predict non-OGL/CC games will do?

True. I was replying in the context of the near-D&D games specifically (Pathfinder, TotV, etc) - for others, different rules apply.

How well do you predict non-OGL/CC games will do?

I think Paizo will continue to do okay, but will probably enter a period of slow but unavoidable decline. I think other "known" companies are already a bit late to the game, but will likewise be okay-ish albeit with the same slow, unavoidable decline. I think everyone else is now dead in the water.

D&D General Would you buy an AI-generated Castle Greyhawk "by" Gary Gygax?" Should you?

This. I don't have the same principled objections to AI as @mamba (I tend to view it as pretty much unstoppable at this point, so tend more to "how do we best use it?"). My reason for not wanting the product the OP suggests is more that I'm just not a fan of High Gygaxian language anyway...

Ben Riggs: 'The Golden Age of TTRPGs is Dead'

The difference is that we used to have several mid-sized games (Vampire, Shadowrun, etc) that, while smaller than D&D, weren't just rounding errors. Now we have D&D, near-D&D, and everything else is a rounding error. And that, crucially, is where we disagree. Because what's good for D&D isn't...
