A class for multiclassers (The Dabbler)

Interesting. Most of the basic stuff seems fine, though I'd put a limit on the number of classes they can learn powers from... probably 3 at Heroic level, and +1 more at Paragon, +1 more at Epic.

    Familiars Take 0.01

Just wanted to add my own version of Familiars... as a new Arcane Implement: Wizards (and Warlocks) have a 4th option as an Implement, a Familiar. While your Familiar is within 10 squares of you, it acts as a free and natural Implement, giving a +1 bonus at 3rd level, +2 at 8th, +3 at 13th, +4...

    D&D 4E My 4e changes so far

You're right, some things, like the spellbook memorization and ranger Hunter's Quarry are clarifications and errata, not actual changes. (Spell Preparation is described under the Spellbook heading, but nowhere does it actually state that you MUST have your spellbook to change spells, or what...

    Wizard and spellbooks

Here's how I currently plan to handle it: When a Wizard replaces a Daily or Utility spell after gaining a level, he must lose 1 spell, but gains 2 new ones of the higher level (3 with Expanded Spellbook). When he uses retraining, he merely trades 1 spell for another 1 of the same level. This...

    D&D 4E My 4e changes so far

Thanks for the replies! a) If your Int bonus increases permanently, you may choose 1 additional skill or language. Temporary increases do not provide any bonus. b) Half elves are widely considered to be underpowered (and I agree), and I HATE the bonus to ally's skills within a zone...

Stalker0's New Skill Challenge System (Version 1.0)

Stalker, I included much of your system (with some of my own tweaks) in my house rules pdf here: http://www.enworld.org/showthread.php?t=230016, and I made sure to give you credit.

Dance of Steel and Rain of Blows

Then I'd submit that the error is not in the powers themselves, but in forgetting to put a little "Effect:" in front of them...

    D&D 4E My 4e changes so far

No comments yet? Well, here's a question for you... should the Int bonus be limited to mental skills, or should physical skills be eligible too? On the one hand, it makes more sense to limit it to mental skills (How would Int help an Endurance check?). On the other hand, that allows mental...

    D&D 4E My 4e changes so far

Ok, here are my 4e changes, houserules, and additions so far. They include everything from a revised Half-elf and Int Bonuses to skills and languages to the return of such favorite 3.x features as a Wizard's familiar, a Paladin's Mount, a Ranger's Wild Empathy, a Warlock's Eldritch Essences...

    Perception: We've all gone blind!

If you Retrain, you lose all the benefits of the previous feat, including the skill training in Perception, same as if you retrained the Skill Training feat...

Kobold chance to hit (javelin +5 vs AC)

I think they got tired of having to proofread all those monster entries, and having a certain reviewer point out all their embarrassing math errors, so they said "We'll show 'em! No more precise math! If we want to give them a +5 to hit when it should only be +1 for their level and attributes...

    Perception: We've all gone blind!

Another suggestion... when you spot him, don't let him know you've spotted him! If he still thinks he's well hidden, he'll probably stay where he is. Signal to the other characters where he is (behind your back), and have them move to block escape while still pretending to not know where he...

Stalker0's New Skill Challenge System (Version 1.0)

Stalker will have to do that himself, but just looking at it, if 1st level characters have an average bonus of +9 on their best skills (Trained +5, Stat +4), and the Medium DC is 20, you'll need to roll an 11+ to succeed on an individual check. That's a 50% chance. (If any characters use...

Stalker0's New Skill Challenge System (Version 1.0)

Very nice work, I think I'll use many of the ideas here. What do you think of these changes?: Critical Failure: Any skill check that results in a natural 1 is a Critical Failure. Not only does it count as an automatic failure in the challenge (if it had been for a skill check, not Aid...

Now that 4e is out, are you into it or sticking with a prior edition?

Our current campaign will most likely be sticking with 3.5 for now. I may suggest running a 4.0 game as well, though the other players in the game didn't seem very eager for 4.0 before it came out, and I'm not even sure how many will end up buying it. I think it'll probably be several weeks...

    Another Character Sheet Option

Looks pretty nice! My main complaint would be page 3. We don't need nearly that much space for rituals or magic items. All of pg 3 could be condensed and combined with the other pages, I think.

    No Familiars?

Well, it can't attack by itself, and it can't do a whole lot. I'd say that a familiar is weaker (1 lb limit instead of 20 lbs) and far less dexterous than a Mage Hand, which is a minor action...

Just say it can't be targeted then, same as other Implements not being Sundered anymore?

    No Familiars?

How about this: Wizard: Arcane Implement Mastery – Wizards have a 4th option as an Implement, a Familiar. While your Familiar is within 10 squares of you, it acts as a free and natural Implement, giving a +1 bonus at 3rd level, +2 at 8th, +3 at 13th, +4 at 18th, +5 at 23rd, and +6 at 28th...
