Once, Twice, Three times a Daily

This would slow the game down even more, because players wouldn't be able to pre-plan their moves at all. (Some don't do it anyway, and that's a problem now; this idea makes it works.)

    20 levels of Race?

    Sounds like a rogue.

D&D Realities: a meta-cosmology to unite all editions

Get ready for the red skies and walls of anti-matter!

Paragon one-on-one: A slayer versus the world

That's a lovely character sheet. (What I meant to say in the XP.)

More Tricks and Traps, Less Combat

Only if the entire party is going to have meaningful ways to interact with and in participate in dealing with those traps. If it's all a case of the thief dealing with them (or the wizard/cleric with thief-obsoleting spells), then no, we don't need more of that.

    Modular vs. Modules

It can't be worse than the confusion over multiple meanings of the word "level."

What edition had the ideal version of each class?

There are also feats for staves and warhammers (the latter if you're a dwarf), and also ruthless ruffians can use clubs or maces.

    D&D 5E (2014) appendix Next

I don't have the time right now to come up with a list of specific suggestions, but in general I'd love to see a lot more female authors and books featuring female protagonists.

If they had a free day...

Appendix N is getting sort of dated. Would be nice if D&D can move on beyond the late 70s in fiction.

L&L: Putting the Vance in Vancian

I don't think it will be either, but I also think that the misleading rhetoric tossed around by Cook & company has been aimed in getting people like Odhanan to think that "core 5e sans modules" will essentially be OD&D (even though it won't). They're being deliberately vague in many cases, but...

    A weighty issue

Actually, I expect that the role of treasure -- and especially buying/making magic items -- will be reduced in 5e compared to previous editions. They say they don't want it to be as magic-item dependent as 3e and 4e were. (AD&D was treasure-dependent if only because a good chunk of your XP came...

If they had a free day...

I'd want them to go down to the mall and ask some kids there what it would take to make them try D&D Next, then run some games for them.

    A weighty issue

You lost me at the equation of "treasure" with "Power." I am not following you here.

Is a Wizard the answer for party balance?

Invoker or hunter seem like good choices to consider.

Balance Meter - allowing flavorful imbalance in a balanced game

This seems to impose an unfair burden on those who dislike 4e.

What edition had the ideal version of each class?

I'm playing a 4e monk in D&D Encounters this season, and so far it feels pretty good and monk-ish.

DM Empowerment vs. Player Entitlement - Is this really that prevalent?

I sure hope "maintaining the mystery" is not going to be a priority for the new system. (I don't think it will be, since that would be a big, big step backwards, post 3e.)

DM Empowerment vs. Player Entitlement - Is this really that prevalent?

Nitpick: We knew our THAC0s in 2e. Also I really think the idea that only DMs would have access to the DM information is kind of silly. :D That's one 3e innovation that I hope sticks around: don't assume an artificial separation of knowledge between players and DMs, especially when it's...

    A weighty issue

This is 5e, everything is modular. Collecting gold (and magic) may be basic to SOME games, but not necessarily to all games. If you take a look at something like Lord of the Rings, there's not really that much treasure-grubbing. D&D Next should be able, without the game breaking, to model that...

D&D 5E (2014) Stupid math stuff that vaguely pertains to 5e.

It's hard to get the right balance between "the guy who goes first, hits first" and "combat is a whiff-fest". In a typical AD&D fight at first level, you've got a THAC0 of like 20 and a +1 or +2 bonus, and you're fighting something with an AC of 5 or so. That means you hit about 1 attack in 3...
