D&D 5E (2014) Strixhaven Has Exams, Jobs, & Extracurricular Activities

Christ, no. Whatever about university, **** school. If I never have to do another gruelling, three hour, prove it or lose it examination again, that requires me to know three years of material in my head, I will be happy. Work is so much better than school it's not even funny.

D&D 5E (2014) Don't play "stupid" characters. It is ableist.

I think commenting on someone's ignore list habits is wildly offtopic and unproductive. Some people have put me on ignore and... I just don't comment on it because it doesn't matter?

D&D 5E (2014) Don't play "stupid" characters. It is ableist.

That is probably valid; I am just so suspicious of why people are invested in this and keep using it, due to abuse of the concept and the fact there are family reasons that have soured me on any concept of this. It makes the space much trickier to navigate.

Sounds like it's an interesting book. Also, that's really fascinating about average height.

Well, we can easily measure the differences in average height due to having an objective physical difference to see. However, IQ tests have changed substantially over the years as far as my understanding goes; to the point that its likely the one I did years ago wouldn't be the one I would be...

D&D 5E (2014) Don't play "stupid" characters. It is ableist.

Jesus, mr / mx, think about what you're saying. Going into potentially very murky ground with something that plays into racist tropes and ideas is not the way to combat ableism. I don't think it's wrong to say portray how people foreign to a culture are treated as 'stupid' when they're not and...

D&D 5E (2014) Don't play "stupid" characters. It is ableist.

I pretty much agree with you (since the 18 pages of arguing isn't over whether your post could be understood, it's really about well... people not actually engaging in, you know, the premise and idea and screaming about being criticised maybe a little bit and then bringing in fecking IQ of all...

D&D 5E (2014) Don't play "stupid" characters. It is ableist.

Look, I am sorry, I have been searching of a summary of this excellent video on the infamous Bell Curve book, and why it's *******, and ineed so much of the ******** around IQ, but I can't find one. It's just... it is a long video, and I myself haven't watched all of it, but god damn. The part...

D&D 5E (2014) Don't play "stupid" characters. It is ableist.

This is why I wouldn't consider a lot of programmers or software engineers (including me) 'smart'. We have a lot of knowledge in software engineering, maybe other fields, maybe we EVEN know how to learn other things well. Doesn't make us smart. Lord above knows, the amount of absolutely silly...

(+) Gaming in historical settings and dealing with values of the era

Remember as well that values may not be as easily thought of "x is okay now, but was bad in the past" etc. Human progress along ethical and value lines has not been linear in the slightest. This is why LGBTQIA+ people have to continue to fight for their rights; not only in places where those...

    Paizo Paizo Leadership Team Update

Yeah; I agree. It's just the particular circumstances that make the whole suspect and sad, and how Fraiser was treated afterwards.

Sean K Reynolds on working at Paizo (and other companies)

Don't forget that Paizo has a significant amount of contractors; they went on strike when the union was forming, which likely contributed to its success.

Sean K Reynolds on working at Paizo (and other companies)

Considering everything that Crystal Fraiser, Diego, and other former and current staff have said, Sean K is adding to a chorus of voices stating, quite simply, that Paizo needs to clear out upper management and engage constructively with the union. Makes me regret buying the core books just...

D&D 5E (2014) Strixhaven Previews Start to Appear

Yes; but it'd be best handled as a natural part of roleplay and something that is much more like just improve, or acting, or something unstructured, than gameified, as I feel the latter has the potential to be really awkward at best, and potentially creepy at its worst. I just find the talk of...

D&D 5E (2014) Strixhaven Previews Start to Appear

My exact worries; while I did partake in romance in those games, they are pretty shallow and not great (especially compared to how well handled friendships and other relationships are handled in Bioware games). I find that romances in games that aren't pre-set or a key part of the narrative...

I'm not allowed to watch Star Trek any more

There is a deep irony to you link this as I can't watch this. And I'm in Ireland. This would have easily been viewable on TV at the time over here more than likely. Geoblocking is such bollocks...

D&D General How do you like your ASIs?

Honestly, I'd suspect Warlock must be one of the worst noobie classes. You have to very strictly manage spell slots and know how to use your cantrips well, you really should take Eldrich Blast (really should have been a freebie), there's so many choices to make, some of the houserule or culture...

    Paizo Paizo Leadership Team Update

I think I understand your point; but policies like that should be either revised or be flexible enough to recognise that when you have employees who are trans, their 'sex' should be irrelvant. I'm not sure if we're speaking past each other or just talking about related but different things...

    Paizo Paizo Leadership Team Update

You shouldn't cut off the last part of that sentance. I am speaking generally about life rather than specifically about any HR policy. Though if it did inform Paizo's HR policy then that would be awful, for the reasons I've listed before; if they honestly would treat two cis women wanting to...
