    Campaign Settings III

If I were to vote at this moment in time, I'd say Eberron. However, I won't vote for that very fact; I think Eberron needs to kick around for a year or two, at least, before it really deserves being given preference over other campaign settings. A campaign setting should get past its shiny...

Scarred Lands: Ask the Sage [This keeps up, I'm gonna need a bigger notebook!]

The Abyss is a chaotic place and it makes little sense for Vangal to be putting Lethene in Limbo. Not to mention that Ian, who wrote the section on Limbo, said that he might have flubbed a bit when it came to placing Lethene in it, or at least neglected to check Divine and the Defeated when...

Scarred Lands: Ask the Sage [This keeps up, I'm gonna need a bigger notebook!]

I do hate saying someone else said something without having the source on hand, but Joe had said on the Sword and Sorcery site that gods didn't necessarily need worship; it was more like a drug that, if deprived of, might possibly kill them, but more for cutting a particularly potent addiction...

    Campaign Settings II

Oh, I'm sure it would get more then that, though you do have a point...Enworld polls aren't really indiciative of sales. For that matter, I don't think Enworld, on the whole, is indicative of most of the gaming community - we're not generally casual gamers and seem to have a sizable DM...

Scarred Lands: Ask the Sage [This keeps up, I'm gonna need a bigger notebook!]

You know, I wrote a review of Edge of Infinity and was in the process of editting it to put up here when my computer went kaput. I've been lazy about getting it fixed, so don't know if I'll be able to get it back (I've yet to try the freezer trick that was recommend to me...) I may write up...

    Campaign Settings II

I went with Planescape, Ravenloft, Eberron and Dragonlance. I will add, though, that I don't just buy everything and that if I think a book is of poor quality, I won't necessarily buy it. Ravenloft, for example, is currently being supported. However, based on its currently shoddy handling, I...

    Eberron Campaign Setting

I was amazed when I saw there was no review here, either. I'd actually intended on writing one up, anyway, because of that (about half of my reviews were inspired partially because they weren't reviewed at the time), but the contest offered nudge enough for me to actually get around to doing it...

    Reviewer Contest (2 products)

Pow! Eberron review is up. Presumably you meant non-reviewer in the sense of someone who doesn't do it for free products or the like and those who have only reviewed here in an unofficial capacity aren't exempted. If, however, my previous reviews on Enworld here do exempt me, though, well...hey...

Which 'Campaign Classics' would you buy?

Planescape. Presuming they didn't pull any of that Faction War crap; a Planescape without all the factions just isn't Planescape, not to my mind. If that happened, it'd be questionable, but would at least catch my interest.

    Eberron Campaign Setting

So you know something? I really, really wasn't looking forward to Eberron. It seemed everything in the previews was purposely looking to draw out my disdain for their new campaign setting. Between dinosaurs and prestige classes bearing names such as "Extreme Explorer," everything I saw...

Do warforged dream of construct sheep?

Well, some might have been created or trained to be rangers or rogues - considering that they don't need to eat, sleep or so many other things, they make ideal scouts or other far-ranging soldiers. Even disregarding that, keep in mind that the oldest wizards, clerics and the like amongst them...

Scarred Lands: Ask the Sage [This keeps up, I'm gonna need a bigger notebook!]

A good source? Not that I know of, no. However, the Player's Guide to Fighters and Barbarians goes into the war colleges of Darakeene, at least in part. Relics and Rituals II also describes the Sage of the Phylacteric Vault, which is based in Darakeene. As for Darakeene's distance from other...

Do warforged dream of construct sheep?

Hmm, I've the feeling I'll take some flack for the reference, but, hey, whatever. Sonny from I, Robot, seems a good example of a warforged, at least when it comes to personality. Data couldn't feel (initially, anyway); Warforged can - as shown by their capability at having morality (good...

    Book of Perfect Balance

Not quite how I see perfect balance. The reason neutrality is perfect balance, as opposed to good, is that sometimes there are necessary evils. For example, a village is over-run by plague. People are trying to escape, trying to get healing. However (and for a moment, let's just say that...

    Quick: What was the last...

Let's see, I just watched Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels yesterday or the day before. I believe the last book I read was, ahh, what's it called...I think it's just Merlin, the follow up book to The Once and Future King. As for album, I'm currently listening to disc two of 69 Love Songs...

    Book of Perfect Balance

True neutrality isn't inaction, it's doing just what most folk do every day. It's maybe donating blood and tipping extra, but not putting up a fuss when you get promoted over someone you know is better qualified then you, just because the manager likes you better. It's paying your speeding...

Scarred Lands: Ask the Sage [This keeps up, I'm gonna need a bigger notebook!]

But I've already answered this question, like a million times! Agh! Of course, most everybody knows what I'm going to answer with. Amongst the Scarred Lands books I've read, The Faithful and the Forsaken is easily the worst of the bunch, for a number of reasons. All right, first off, the...

Scarred Lands: Ask the Sage [This keeps up, I'm gonna need a bigger notebook!]

Keep in mind that whatever gets used for a non-standard animal companion should use the monsters CR, not its HD. The creatures CR should be roughly that of any other for the animal companions allowed at the druids level. At least, if you're using 3.5 - where HD isn't what's used for the animal...

Scarred Lands: Ask the Sage [This keeps up, I'm gonna need a bigger notebook!]

Of course, Nightfall, just because I think the way people rate books (not the rating system itself, which is fine) is wrong doesn't mean it isn't, either. Look at your own collection, and then add in all the books you've read that you may not own. Take a look at the more similar ones. Give a...

Scarred Lands: Ask the Sage [This keeps up, I'm gonna need a bigger notebook!]

All right, a few comments... First, a 3 out of 5 isn't sinful. Most books should be a 3. Not just Scarred Lands, but in general. Just a general comment on the review process; I think there's far too many 4's at times. A 4 should stick out above the crowd of books out there - as it is, while I...
