    Ability damage

If ability damage is brought back I would want two changes implemented: first, no ability damage is permanent (aka deep six 3e-style ability drain) and second it shouldn't force major and laborious recalculation of your other game statistics.

    D&D 5E (2014) What Races for the 5E PHB

My list for the 5e PHB is dragonborn, dwarf, eladrin, elf, gnome, half-elf, halfling, half-orc, human, and tiefling.

Spoilers: Some guy in Friends & Family playtest apparently violates his NDA

Listen to Piratecat; its a complete fake. Well, not complete, since the guy took snippets of stuff from the seminars and weaved them into his account. Bravo good sir! I had to check my calendar to see if it was April 1st.

    Revisioning Tiers

I think explicit tiers will be out all together, because there's a significant group of players that believe it dictates how the game should be played (similar to many objections to explicit roles). I think they will return to implicit tiers (I also doubt that the level spread will be as great...

    Morale

IMO, morale is too dependent on context to express in a numerical value in a stat block, especially in something like a Monster Manual. I think that general attitudes should be covered in the monster fluff and more specifics reserved for encounters within an adventure.

    10% Controller, 50% Striker, 20% Leader, 20% Defender

And there was a lot of angst amongst a certain segment of 4e fans about that blurring. The sentinel is a good example, but the bladesinger even more so. Personally, I think that 5e will remove explicit roles all together from the game and return to the implicit roles found in earlier editions.

D&D 5E (2014) D&D Next Blog - Wizards Like to Roll Dice Too

I doubt that...I'm pretty sure they're not meant to be taken too seriously and are geared more to generating a discussion.

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Next Blog - The Fighter

But he's also largely right about weapon choice in 4e, between fighting styles, feats, enhancement bonuses, power riders, and superior weapons you're locked into a particular weapon (or small group of weapons) pretty quickly if you want to keep up.

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Next Blog - The Fighter

I thought it was pretty clear that he was referring to the fact that no matter which build you played or which powers you selected, you were still a melee defender (unless you were a slayer).

    D&D 5E (2014) What will 5E's defining sub-system be?

At this point, I would say its the way it treats ability scores and skills.

    D&D 3.x 5E Eberron - should it be closer to 3.5E or 4E/

While I would personally prefer that the dragonmarks return to their 3.5e state (though its not a deal breaker by any stretch of the imagination), I'm fine with the rest of the 4e updates. In particular, the eladrin feyspires are all kind of awesome (a couple of them got nice treatments in the...

    The Problems With Modularity

The key is the phrase "style of edition x..." A D&D Next character that emulates OD&D, AD&D, or BECMI D&D will be less complex than their later edition counterparts but will still have options available to them that all PCs will share (i.e. the core system and basics of the game).

    Character Creation Mini-Game?

I voted no. I only create characters as I need them. When I read new character options that I like, I may think about character concepts that include them, but I usually don't rush out and create them.

    Dungeon and Dragon Magazine Content

Yeah, based on Twitter, the weather played havoc on WotC and its staffers. And you're right, the articles are huge this month, especially the Dungeon ones.

    Rules updates are out

Here is what changed from the playtest: 1. The Elusive trait was reworked; it is no longer a bonus to Reflex. 2. You can now speak in animal form when using your nature's mask power. 3. If your animal form gave you a climb speed, the climb speed is now equal to your base speed. 4. If your...

    Eladrin, why?

Aquatic elves have been mentioned in 4e sources, but not officially stated, and lets not forget the dusk elf or winterkin eladrin.

Rejection for DDI article isn't so bad

Yeah, I was a bit surprised that the non-explicit sexual content wasn't cut from "Oasis of the Golden Peacock."

Are the Class Compendium articles still in beta?

The ranger was never part of the cancelled book from which those Class Compendium articles originated.
