D&D 3.x What ever happened to Midnight?

It's also complicated by the fact that many of the d20 publishers either no longer exist or got out of the d20 game entirely - Mongoose, Fantasy Flight, etc, etc.

D&D 3.x What ever happened to Midnight?

It was a great setting. It was apologetically "Lord of the Rings if Sauron won" but very well done and brought enough to the table to make it unique. The toughest thing to convert would be the Heroic Paths, which aren't like the class paths in 5E. Instead they are universal paths that any...

    D&D 5E (2014) Advice on Setting Creation

To be a voice of (some) reason, I honestly think everyone is generally on the same page, just wording it slightly differently. I don't think anyone is advocating you force your setting/campaign on a group of players. At the same time, the DM should run what he wants to run, because if he...

D&D General [History] How heavy armors and long swords were used in the 15th century

Wow that's crazy!! I'm certainly no historian but I know there are a lot of inaccuracies in commonly held fantasy beliefs. That said, that video kind of blew my mind! It's like Judo in armor. I was also shocked to see that they didn't swing their swords at all and instead used them like...

    D&D 5E (2014) Advice on Setting Creation

My advice on creating a setting is don't. More specifically, don't create a setting just for the sake of it and without context. In my decades of gaming, I've learned that the success (re: fun) of a campaign, it's directly tied to how engaged the players are. And players are engaged when they...

D&D General Art that exemplifies D&D to you.

@Saelorn I've always thought "momma is going to be pissed!" when looking at that picture. These low-level adventures with stupid grins on their faces, so proud of themselves. They have no idea what they are in for. Another of my favorites.

D&D General Art that exemplifies D&D to you.

Pretty much any cover from the old Dragon and Dungeon magazines. This is one of my favorites of all time:

D&D 5E (2014) How Big Do You Like To Party?

3 player party is good for anything. I'll run a game for 3 halfling barbarians. Small parties are great for really specific campaign themes. My friends and I are really into beer and we've talked about running a game where everyone plays a dwarf and they own a brewery together! 🍻

D&D 5E (2014) How Big Do You Like To Party?

Our main campaign is a party of 4 but we had a side game with 3. We will sometimes play our main campaign if someone can't make it. In my old age , I really don't like groups bigger than 4 anymore, and honestly, I think my favorite group size is 3 + DM. It's so much more intimate and...

    D&D 5E (2014) Skinwalker class

I'm usually anti-new classes but I like the concept of a martial striker that uses shape-shifting to adapt to his environment or change their fighting style. Sort of like a primal battlemaster with some barbarian and druid mixed together. No doubt it can easily be a reskin of an existing...

    D&D 5E (2014) Xanathar's Guide errata coming

Allowing Healing Spirit more than once per round (which was clearly the design intent) makes it broken beyond belief. So don't do that. The "fix" is overkill and a gross overreaction. It's a redesign instead of actual errata. But as far as subclasses go, most of the ones in XGtE are weaker than...

    D&D 5E (2014) Xanathar's Guide errata coming

Haha that's fair. My "fix" is only once per reason. Done. It's obvious that is what the intent was. No way in hell I would allow the healing merry-go-round.

    D&D 5E (2014) Xanathar's Guide errata coming

For groups of 3 or more that all need hit points, Prayer of Healing is a better choice by far. Healing Spirit is better at healing a single target or topping off multiple targets. (This assumes out of combat healing of course.)

D&D 5E (2014) Healing spirit has been updated?

Agreed. The "fix" is overly complex and actually makes it worse than Cure Wounds in some situations.

D&D 5E (2014) Healing spirit has been updated?

Gotta be April Fool's. I'd be shocked if WotC implement a change like this.

D&D 5E (2014) Most User-Friendly VTT? (Dice Games In The Time of Covid)

Not really, and running VTT apps or Zoom on your phone or tablet is way less efficient. For a player it's ok but not DM.

D&D 5E (2014) Most User-Friendly VTT? (Dice Games In The Time of Covid)

Biggest barrier for online gaming right now is that you can't find webcams in stock anywhere.
