D&D 5E (2014) Tactical Combat Module, hasn't it always been there?

Totally agree @Li Shenron ! Great observation. I don't use all the options in the DMG but I've spent a lot of time looking them over. It's one of my favorite sections in the book. I really like the Combat Options, Cleave, Hitting Cover, Injuries, Massive Damage, and Spell Points. Thanks for...

    D&D 5E (2014) OAR4: The Lost City Now Available for Pre-Order!

Not available as a PDF. Is that an attempt to counter piracy?

    D&D 5E (2014) How should be a d20 Superheroes?

Agreed. d20 also scales extremely poorly, which is paramount in superhero design.

D&D 5E (2014) Homebrew: Removing Concentration From The Less Popular Spells

Right. But it's not inherently bad a thing, it just can't be done in a vacuum. If you remove Concentration from a spell, you have to look at in reference to many other spells. There are 2 components to Concentration being overused: 1. Losing the spell when taking damage, and 2. Certain spells...

D&D 5E (2014) Homebrew: Removing Concentration From The Less Popular Spells

Sorry I'm a little late to the discussion but I'm definitely pro-Concentration but agree that it was overused during design. I'm all for removing Concentration from some spells but the trick isn't whether the spell you remove Concentration is now balanced. It's whether it's balanced alongside...

    D&D 5E (2014) Missing weapons?

5E struck a really good balance with most systems but the weapon chart got overly simplied for my tastes.

D&D 5E (2014) Assassin, Executioner, Slayer, or Something else?

I like the name "Commando" for this type of role but I understand that may have too much of a modern connotation.

D&D 5E (2014) What sword & sorcery books & supplements are out there for 5e?

Flavor-wise there are some similarities but not much. The similarities have to do with low-magic/magic is dangerous and monsters are rare and scary. But the feel for the genres is quite different. AiME is a great system but it's so heavily rewritten that I'd think you spend much too much time...

D&D 5E (2014) What sword & sorcery books & supplements are out there for 5e?

There some decent S&S resources (including the ones that have been mentioned) but I haven't seen one that tackles the biggest challenge to reproducing the S&S feel: the magic system. Thule has virtually zero rules at all (which was a big disappointment for me). Xoth "partially" addresses it but...

D&D 5E (2014) What gaming aids from previous editions do you still use?

I'll go back and take a look at 3ed and 4ed mechanics when I'm designing. I pull adventures from every edition when I'm DMing.

D&D General Which edition of D&D are you currently interested in?

Define "interest". I currently only play 5E but I pull material from all editions.

    D&D 5E (2014) Nerfing Archery

It was a Folger's commercial and later parodied by Chris Farley on SNL. Hilarious!

    D&D 5E (2014) Stat-Block-style Character Sheet

That's some impressive PowerPoint skills. Figured it was InDesign (which I really need to get better with).

I like the style. What did you use to make it?

D&D 5E (2014) Do you allow long rests in the dungeon?

I allow them to try. Players can attempt whatever they want. Whether it succeeds is another story. If the players can find a safe and relatively comfortable place to rest, and they aren't interrupted by anything, then they will get the benefit of a long rest.

    D&D 5E (2014) Monte Cook's Ptolus Kickstarter Has Launched

Wow you're right! I totally forgot about that. I do recall there was some kind of special release. I know it was limited.

    D&D 5E (2014) Monte Cook's Ptolus Kickstarter Has Launched

I didn't back the original but might have to back this one... While I'm usually not a fan of high-fantasy, and his style is not always my cup of tea, Monte is a top-notch designer and his products are always high-quality. This is essentially a must-own for RPG collectors.
