I like what the FRCS did in terms of a reboot for Forgotten Realms in 3rd Edition. That's my baseline now: I ignore everything post-1372 DR and have written up my own rough outlines of the events of the years since then otherwise covered by novels.

3.5E set in the pre-Spellplague Forgotten Realms and completely uninfluenced and unaffected by any novels published since the FRCS. I also really, really, really want to get a game of Savage Worlds going either set in FR or in Midnight.

For those of you who have run these, what did you use for a prequel adventure? I'm planning on running a modified Haunted Halls of Eveningstar, albeit with a more Keep on the Borderlands-feel. A portal will ultimately link Eveningstar with Wheloon so that the published adventures can begin...

You could always just rule that the negative levels are temporary. That's how I prefer to play it: I've never liked level drains (or ability point drain: damage, yes).

I'm recalling pieces from various FR products. I don't have my books with me now but his versions of yuan-ti, in particular, were hideous. I'll try and find some specific examples.

IIRC, the shadow-walker template from FR's Unapproachable East grants some interesting powers including a chance that, when slain, the NPC simply discorporates and returns some other time. Not bad for a recurring villain.

I don't think it was. FFG's other setting, Dawnforge, was definitely in the setting search but not Midnight, IIRC.

What about a living wall? The 3.5E version is in one of the final Creature Catalogue features in the print version of Dragon. The living wall could be comprised of various pirates and even aquatic humanoids. Perhaps the dominant "inhabitant" is a sea hag?

Maybe I am wrong but I would rule that "a creature with the blood of red dragons in its veins" would be allowed by me to exclude both red dragons and half-red dragons while also meeting the requirement of a specific kind of creature.
