Cat Piss Man -- the Goblin Hero?

I don't know the reference. I'm sad my catpissman thread didn't make much waves. As with the real catpissman, everyone wants to ignore and move along.

Game of Thrones 10-minute preview Dec 2010

Rome was also one of the best shows I've seen realistically show the changes time has wrought on a character. The character development alone in that series is phenomenal as a case study in dramatic writing.

Pics from HBO's A Game of Thrones

Wow! I had forgotten this was out there. The actor who is playing Tyrion is awesome. He's the only known quantity 'little person' I know of who could pull of that character. He was great in the Station Agent.

Player challenging DM authority and competative

Better yet, make the death done by a rather servile or repeat villain from several levels ago. The joke in some of my groups over the years has been 'death by goblin with a blowgun.' Or maybe in 4e's case, just engineer a few solid attacks on the PC and have him done in by a lowly minion...

How do I take this seriously?

Yeah that would..... I guess I already do stuff like that though. I have occasionally put the yuanti mini on the chair he normally sits in and then pushed it under the table before he came to the session. Usually the others players said I was being a jerk. Oh well, there always has to...

    Techniques for Railroading

One Idea: Play Against Type Example 1: scene from Titan AE (remember that one?) Preed: "An intelligent guard! Didn't see that one coming." Example 2: I know metagaming is bad, but sometimes DM's had certain cliches that can enrich (or besmirch) even the most serious-minded campaigns. As...

Player challenging DM authority and competative

I had a 7-9 level gnome bard MC fey pact warlock (and others) about a year ago. He had a bag of holding (as a backpack) and had announced to the group that he was interested in two specific paragon paths -- the Student of the Seven and possibly the Resourceful Mage or something like that. The...

How do I take this seriously?

That mini actually looks pretty cool in real life. One of the players/parttime DMs in my group (who posts on EN World actually) is deathly afraid of snakes. I occaisionally will pull my Yuanti Anathema mini out and just put it in front of him. It actually seems to bother him. We rarely taunt...

Link - All the campaign settings on ONE world map

I like how Faerun and Greyhawk meld in the middle. In fact they meld right where Kara Tur and Greyhawk's Asian-style lands (Baklunish West, the Sufang Kingdom, etc). all are. Kind of synergistic.

Cat Piss Man -- the Goblin Hero?

So do we all remember Cat Piss Man? (The Wrath of Cat Piss Man - Role-Playing Free for All - Role-Playing Discussion Forums - Midnight's Lair - Message Board) I have seen discussions around the net about the strange varieties of this great social caste. What if Catpissman was translated into...

    Who runs your game?

This. What's ironic is that my initials are G.M. + last name. It sort of sounds like DJ + last name, except for geeks. Relevant no. Interesting? Probably not. :uhoh: C.I.D.

    Eberron

Another thing I like about Eberron was the potential to use the dragons' continent of Argonessen (sp?) as an updated type of 'Council of Wyrms' campaign. I think the Draconic Prophecy is one of the coolest things about Eberron. I was batting around that concept to pitch to my group as a side...

    Eberron

Yeah I would have to agree. Despite all of Eberron's clear divergences from most D&D worlds, it is the moral relativism that strikes me as one of the salient features of the setting. It makes Eberron feel pretty modern as a setting actually. I also like the endless diversity of organizations...

Getting standard equipment into the spotlight...

I like this thread. Agree with many of its sentiments. Looking over the entire 4e line, I find it odd that so much of its best 'standard equipment' I equip some of my charcters with, actually comes from the Eberron Players Guide. Take a look at what Eberron gives -- from various kits, to...

Will 2011 be the last year of Wizards D&D?

The nearly decade long lifespans of D&D's various editions are really more of an outlier in the general RPG industry. That can probably be attributed to name recognition, quality of the product, and D&D first-in-the-industry status. I wouldn't be surprised by newer editions coming much sooner...
