    Those Pesky Dungeon Tiles

potty break! LOL I will def try this! The main thing I would like to do is prepare my tiles ahead of time... and stick them onto the Tact-Tiles. Great pic! Will try the electrical tape along with the putty and see which one works best for me. Thanks for the tips! -PJ

    What Would You Do?

Great suggestions, and from what was mentioned above, I think I will flesh out the castle more, drop a couple of more hints, but the wizard and prince will have a head start on their plans (raise army and overtake the kingdom w/ the magic item they stole from PC's). How 'bout using a cutscene...

    Those Pesky Dungeon Tiles

They do not stay still! LOL What are some of the things you guys tried to keep them from not moving. I'm using them in combo with my Tact Tiles and thinking of using the putty they sell at Staples. Has anyone tried this? Does it damage the tiles? -PJ

    Minis, Tokens, or Both?

Glad to hear most of you mix 'em up! Been using tokens but have a few D&D minis lying around. Will give the players minis, and some of my major baddies minis too. The rest of them can stay tokens :) -PJ

    Minis, Tokens, or Both?

I was thinking of doing the same thing! Maybe even using minis for major foes and tokens for minions (since we're running Savage Worlds at the moment, maybe mini's for Wild Cards and tokens for Extras). -PJ

    Minis, Tokens, or Both?

Just want to know if any of you mix both tokens and minis? I would love to use just miniatures, but it get very expensive, and using tokens, while much less expensive, doesn't have that "wow" factor the 3D minis have. So I wanna get a general idea of what you guys use, and if anyone doesn't...

    What Would You Do?

The players are actually the second group; they found the first one didn't even make it inside the castle. So a third party would make sense. It gives the party something to do, I can drop more hints, and still not alter the main plot line. Great ideas, guys! -PJ

    What Would You Do?

i like this! the party did actually go back to the abandoned castle thinking the wizard is there, but in fact he traveled to the castle where the prince is (nearby city). clues were left but looking back i think they were clear enough. they are def into the story and want to defeat him, but...

    What Would You Do?

running a fantasy game, and the party decided to do something totally unexpected. now, i don't want to railroad them and pretty much they can do whatever they want, but should i alter the plan of the story or just keep it the way it is for now? i'll give you the scenario quickly: they were...

    Using Extended Monitor

so far i downloaded two programs: faststone image viewer and ifranview. fastone is the "closest" i've gotten to what i want to accomplish. there's a "dual monitor" setting where if i choose "preview" it will show the images on my second monitor (in fullscreen) but there's no way of "turning it...

    Using Extended Monitor

i'm trying to set up a monitor for my players to view images (mostly). is there a program out there (or even a default vista program) that will allow me to drag an image to the second monitor and when it's dropped it will fill the screen (with a nice black background). i currently have Picasa...

    Improving In-Game Descriptions

I've been thinking on how I can improve my game descriptions (especially combat scenes) and thought of picking up some good fantasy novels, especially geared towards teenage and young readers (like the Goosebumps book). In those books, the descriptions are basic, and don't have alot of details...

    Music at the gaming table?

i use music all the time. and since i'm into music myself (writing, recording, etc) i use a program called Ableton Live. looks alot like a spreadsheet program but each "cell" is a music clip. i name all the columns based on a theme (traveling, combat, F/X, etc) and drop songs or clips to the...

Gettinig Better At Describing A Scene

that's very reassuring! sometimes i try too hard to be original, unique, whatever. thanks! another great advice. i feel like i have to paint this big budget, high cinema image, and it probably robs the player of their own imagination! a practical suggestion i will use at my next game...

Gettinig Better At Describing A Scene

lately i've been feeling like i'm using all the same description in my game: all the taverns look the same, smell the same, traveling through the forest are all the same, etc. and i hate reading "text blocks" to describe a scene. any suggestions, advice, tips you guys use when describing your...
