Digging For Lies - Ziggurat Rainbow Puzzle

EDIT: Wrong stuff, because I missed that the text was also wrong. Ok, so now that my reading comprehension hasn't caused me to misread your post, I've put together a quick hacked map for anybody to use. See attached.

    Technologost theme question

Today, our new player joined the group, mid-Skyseer. She decided (independently) that she wanted to play a steampunk-ish druid/technologist who rejected the pure old ways, and augmented her magic with tech. Earlier this morning, I had read about your B.E.A.R. B.E.A.R. is now a part of our game...

    4e vs PFRPG

This is definitely possible with 4e. While 4e characters can be a bit more complex, I've always found that 3e/PF spellcasters can exceed even that complexity at higher levels. I'd imagine that, by the end, it would all average out. As mcmillan mentioned, too, the 4e DMG2 has some great rules...

    4e vs PFRPG

Interesting. I'm curious how that might affect the design. Regardless, I think my prior comment still holds, as I'm guessing the majority will still be 4e to PF conversions. This does give some balance to the Pathfinder side, though.

    4e vs PFRPG

It also depends on which adventure you're actually talking about. War of the Burning Sky? Zeitgeist? I assume Zeitgeist, but just to address the other first: WotBS was designed for 3.5e, which works well as Pathfinder, and then converted to 4e. From everything I've heard, the first bunch of 4e...

Martial Scientist's Experimental Strike is powerful/vague

That works rather well, actually. Good thought. Not being a Pathfinder player, I narly forgot about the Combat Maneuver rules, and I don't think I ever knew about Dirty Trick. It feels weird to me to only trigger off a full attack action, but I suppose that's how it was written in the player's...

Martial Scientist's Experimental Strike is powerful/vague

Nah, you don't seem incompetent at all. For the purposes of my answers, I assume (from your condition list) that you're playing Pathfinder? First off, I'd say that no, you can't purposely miss. If you could, then you weren't attacking your target, and thus didn't miss at all. In fact, you hit...

How does EN Publishing feel WotC announcement?

Indeed it is, which is why one of their stated goals is to create something that can draw in fans of all editions. Whether they can succeed in that remains to be seen. It will be quite the task, though. In any case, a direct mechanical conversion will likely be rather complicated. But a fan...

How does EN Publishing feel WotC announcement?

Well, my assumption for a date is summer 2014. Given that: - it took almost a year after announcing 4e before it released - we're at a stage of "very very early design" - they won't even start the public playtesting until the spring, and need to have time to incorporate it into the design in...

4e Themes - need an update?

In the Coaltongue fight, I dropped all but one PC by the end. The Yerasol Veteran was the first to go down, as the Defender. In the fight against Asrabey, everyone was near 0hp, but none dropped, as they decided to not pursue Asrabey when he took to the roof. Otherwise, through tactical...

4e Themes - need an update?

I understood it, but Morrus is right that the wording is unclear. It's only the wording of the trigger that's unclear, though. So why not just cut it out? Level 5: Courage Under Fire. After an extended rest, you gain an additional action point. You may still only spend one per encounter.

4e Themes - need an update?

I m positively thrilled about the Martial Scientist. I read the abilities to my wife (who's playing our Martial Scientist) and she just got a huge grin on her face. I think she likes it, too. Interesting point - the 10th level ability makes Martial Scientists proficient with Ki Focuses as well...

ZEITGEIST ZEITGEIST Adventure One - Rebel Investigator

Lessee... The question of damage was answered. The blinded effect is kind of strong, but being just one target per round, and only when Delude didn't recharge, it didn't hinder too much. If you have a small group (3 characters maybe?), however, the effect will be greater, so you might want to...

4e Themes - need an update?

As an engineer, I'd disagree. Think of it more as a Bachelor's degree than a Master's or PhD. This is the point where you're a generic "Physicist" with maybe a minor specialty that you're better at, rather than an expert in quantum entanglement. The Martial Scientist is merely someone with...

    Reaching through the Veil

Huh. Alright, I'll keep that in mind for when I run it.

    Reaching through the Veil

My assumption is that they forgot about readied actions, and #1 is the intent. It doesn't make a lot of sense the other way, having readied and opportunity attacks with full effect, while otherwise-identical attacks do nothing until you have two shrouds. I think it would just aggrivate players...

A few pages from the Player's Guide

Neat! Question, then. Will reading the novel spoil things for the players? How closely is it based on them?

A few pages from the Player's Guide

So I hadn't looked much at Santiago yet, as I wasn't familiar with the supporting fiction, and a lot of licensed settings require familiarity, but this caused me to take a better look. Sci-fi western RPG... The Democracy... and then I get to the Ballad of Black Orpheus. And the one thing...

4e: PHB3, Monks, and the Gate Pass "Initiate" feats

One thing to consider: The PHB3 Monk rarely makes unarmed attacks. Its melee basic attacks are unarmed strikes, but its powers are all Implement attacks, using either a Ki Focus or an enchanted weapon. As such, it's going to be up to you how to interpret the intent. Should you grant a bonus to...

    DTRPG Subscription

I have my subscription through RPGNow (same company), and yes, you get all of the supplementary material, including preview material. Regarding themes: The themes are included in the Player's Guide. They also exist as standalone files (which were previews, I believe, and are included in your...
