D&D 5E (2014) How many 5e core books does your gaming group have?

I've never played in a store, though one or two of my players have on occasion.

D&D 5E (2014) Where are the whaling vessels? (A.k.a. material for big spenders)

Individually, yes. But the random booster scheme allows for the whales to spend hundreds of dollars to get a complete collection. That's the part I was referring to.

D&D 5E (2014) Where are the whaling vessels? (A.k.a. material for big spenders)

I think the only Whale product they have at the moment is the miniatures line, though it's a fairly decent one. The primary focus, at the moment, is in creating minnows. As many as possible. But I agree that they need a plan for getting minnows to become dolphins. Personally, I think some form...

Additional Pages for the Official Sheets

Thank you. I'll keep adding to these as my campaign needs new sheets. As a notice to everyong, fillable versions aren't likely in the foreseeable future. I still have a license to InDesign 5, but I no longer have the Creative Cloud license that gave me Acrobat. I've yet to find a good...

    D&D 5E (2014) Point buy or Dice?

I allow my players to roll or take the array, but if they roll, they must keep the result. Same for HP. All my players have chosen to roll without even looking at the array. Someday I will run a game of 3d6 in order. But not a major campaign.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5E: Ten Years Later

First, I would try to determine what "complete" version of the game would look like. I'd consider what products or sets of products would really add to the game. For me, those are: Advanced monster books organized by monster type. Draconomicon (dragons), Lords of Madness (abberations) Libre...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5E: Ten Years Later

Imagine you were tasked with laying out a ten year plan for this edition. What would it look like? What's your reasoning? Which products would you release early? What about in the later years? And finally, what would a complete D&D bookshelf look like in ten years?

D&D 5E (2014) Light release schedule: More harm than good?

I buy fluff. I want lots of it. Imagination can involve creation, but even reading a novel depends on imagination. I like to play in a well developed and shared playground. For crunch, I'm most interested in books focused on a style of campaign. Thus, for a war campaign, it becomes easy to say...

    D&D 5E (2014) Researching Magic Item "recipies"

With magical research of any kind, it might be fun to have a random effects chart that you roll on occasion. Just don't blow up their entire workshop.

D&D 5E (2014) What OGL 5E products are you the most interested in?

I'd probably pick up some adventures, but I'm most interested in the utilities that fans would create. Monster or spell cards, spell-list generators, character builders, or even an online SRD.

D&D 5E (2014) Light release schedule: More harm than good?

Whereas I feel that Paizo, while on the right track conceptually, released too much generic player content too quickly, causing it to be less well thought out. Where I really feel they've done well is in the subscriptions for Adventure Paths and setting content. It's not so much about the...

D&D 5E (2014) Light release schedule: More harm than good?

I just want to add to this point. Pathfinder, like 5E, is a rather complete game with just the core. Their first major splat book, The Advanced Players Guide, was fantastic. But in my opinion, it was also the saturation point for player content. At least for classes, feats, spells, and the like...

D&D 5E (2014) Do you allow adult situations in your games?

Within traditional settings, it follows. The relationship between orcs and humans is portrayed as violent. Most lore defines orcs as grotesque raiders and conquerors. Take a look at human history and there's a fairly obvious conclusion. Sure, it's a common trope for half-orcs. Some find it...

D&D 5E (2014) Can you make them fillable?

You seem to have accidentally posted this as a new thread in D&D 5th Edition. Which sheets were you referring to?

D&D 5E (2014) Light release schedule: More harm than good?

I may not agree with the premise of this thread, but let me play Devil's Advocate a bit. There may be potential harm in not feeding the more dedicated fans some of what they want. We are quite important in spreading love for role playing and D&D. I don't think that means a faster release...

[UPDATED] Has ADVENTURER'S HANDBOOK Been Cancelled?

I suspect the reason that the Marvel movies haven't translated to a greater interest in the comics is because the comic books are nearly impenetrable to newcomers due to the overwhelming amount of content produced with no clear place to start. The similarity to D&D in this regard is obvious...

Additional Pages for the Official Sheets

I've added an NPC sheet. It doesn't contain any statistics, but focuses on the roleplay elements described in the DMG.

[UPDATED] Has ADVENTURER'S HANDBOOK Been Cancelled?

If the goal is the grow the brand, that it's wise to wait on releasing a player focused book until they can make it a surefire hit. Right now, the focus should be on selling Player's Handbooks. The big adventure stories help do that. Each creates an entry point into the game, either through...

[UPDATED] Has ADVENTURER'S HANDBOOK Been Cancelled?

Personally, I'm not very keen on the Adventurer's Handbook path. The price to content ratio just doesn't feel like a value. Including the core player material with the adventure itself is best. An online supplement has advantages too. They don't need to fill an entire book with content...
