    D&D 3.x 3.5/PF - Some Ideas for speeding combat.

Not to go OT, but why may I ask Dandu do you still play 3e?

That gave me a good laugh.

    D&D 3.x 3.5/PF - Some Ideas for speeding combat.

One question Dandu, since you brought it up. Why do you say 4e may be best? I haven't played it so I don't know what changes they have made to the system.

    D&D 3.x 3.5/PF - Some Ideas for speeding combat.

I think this is a colossally bad idea. The reason being that your hatred of computers is irrational. It only makes sense to use computers to speed up calculations which are one of the things which slow down combat to a halt. Electronic character sheets are absolutely indispensible if you want...

+X Items - Why so bad for the game?

GMW makes higher enhancement bonuses obsolete. And the fact that weapon special abilities are so much better than +x enhancement bonuses.

    Item Cost: Ring Belt

Well, there is a feat in ECS called Extra Rings which allows you to wear two extra rings but it requires Forge Ring as a pre-req so I don't see why this item is necessary. I can't say how much it would cost since I generally don't like to create my own items. I would definitely be concerned...

+X Items - Why so bad for the game?

If you want a named sword, the solution is to name it yourself not to complain that +1 swords are not interesting. +1 swords exist for purely mechanical reasons having nothing to do with RP. If RP is your concern, naming your sword is the solution. Or perhaps unique weapons and armor which are...

+X Items - Why so bad for the game?

Yes but if you want to face higher CR encounters such as a lion, your bare hands are certainly not going to help you, neither are rudimentary tools going to help you.

+X Items - Why so bad for the game?

I disagree, I think they should be necessary. Just as human survival requires the invention of tools.

    Helping a friend out.

This is a little OT, but just to figure out if my thesis is correct: Is the girl you play with attractive or unattractive?

    Searing Light

I question the wisdom and sanity of the creators of such spells as sadism, masochism, consumptive field etc. etc. You could just persist Sadism and go on a killing spree. There is no such thing as a world like D&D, there are many settings within D&D, some industrial (Eberron), some...

    Searing Light

If any of you have read the Dragonlance series, I think there is a novel where a few of the heroes of the lance go on an adventure on the moon so it is not impossible.

    D&D 3.x Touch spells and persist. (3.5)

Another question then, if you apply reach spell to a spell with a range of touch and then cast that spell on yourself can you persist the spell or does the reached spell have to be cast on a target other than you to qualify as having a "fixed range"?

    D&D 3.x Touch spells and persist. (3.5)

When you cast touch spells on yourself, does the range of the spell change to personal? I want to know whether I can apply persist to it then or not.

    D&D 3.x Fishing rules for 3.5...

I actually have but when he said fishing the association it brings up is not one of adventure.

    D&D 3.x 3.5 Magic Item Question

Incorrect. The cost actually jumps to 10315. (300 for MW, 2000 for +1, 8000 for flaming.) If you have a +1 sword you only pay 8000 gp to upgrade it.

    D&D 3.x Fishing rules for 3.5...

I was going to say that D&D is about adventure, not fishing. You don't need anything more complex than a profession (fisherman) check.

Anyone else really dislike Ability Damage & Ability Drain?

If having to recalculate is the issue, you can go on Mythweavers and they have electronic character sheets which automatically recalculates ability drain and damage.
