Cripes. I can't decide if this is actually worse than CMP closing up shop. It is painful to watch this happen to a company I had very, very high hopes for.

CMP is still down... Plagued by disaster or mismanagement----doesn't really matter at this point. They just keep on showing us that they don't have the ability to run a high-quality company.

Fellow Gamers! I am considering DMing a Forgotten Realms Campaign for mature gamers (21+). Please note that although I am looking for mature (preferably experienced) gamers---the focus and source material will not be ‘NC-17’ or ‘XXX’ rated. We will begin at 1st level---and see where it goes…...

Yeah, but think about it---the times of both 4.0 and WoTC's "Digital Initiative" match up pretty nicely. WoTC has said that 4.0 won't come out until at least 2008, AND it their digital initiative is just starting to ramp up... Sooo, it gives them a year to create the software for their new rules...

Simply put, there will be no official WoTC digital RPG aid until the next version of D+D (4.0) comes out. On the upside---they may create a great digital aid that integrates smoothly to every aspect of the game. On the downside, I have invested a HUGE amount of $$$ in 3.0/3.5 books---and...

And now CMP's site is down again... Does anyone really doubt their days are numbered?

And CMP has once again blown by its self-imposed info update on its web page. Yet another indication of a lack of commitment to their current/potential customers.

OK, I'll edit my post. Care to respond to any of the other points raised? I just realized that a class action suit would only bring about my prediction... ah well...

Bottom line: Don't make a promise you can't keep. They should have either bound up the dataset exchange in their initial contract (allowing them to do trade in PCGen/E-Tools datasets), with some sort of condition/clause that allowed them to make good on their promise---or they should have...

Yea, CMP has been known for their "We never really promised you anything." stance---and then using levity to lighten any potential response. That being said, they had several previous 'estimated release dates' that were powerfully blown past. So many, in fact, that I don't think they will ever...

My prediction---CMP will not be around within six months. Why you ask? Here's a few reasons: 1. No substantive update on their web page for close to two months now. 2. No apparent revenue stream---i.e. No current Chargen product, their much awaited vaporware RPGFoundry is now two years past due...

Dear God I wish there was a BG3 in the works. The whole series brought me back to gaming after a fifteen year hiatus.

I tend to stay with the production releases.
