    If Psionics replaced magic...

I'm loving Nifft and Jackelope King's ideas, here. Also, if it helps, here's the list of WotC-released, non-supernatural base classes that I'm aware of: Barbarian Fighter Rogue Knight (Player's Handbook II) Marshal (Miniatures Handbook) Samurai (Complete Warrior) Scout (Complete Adventurer)...

D&D Cosmology: the old and the new. Where do you stand?

I'm okay with the new cosmology, but I'll probably use it about as often as I used the Great Wheel: not at all.

What Supplement Monsters Deserve a Promotion to Core?

Am I the only one who misses the randomly-generated "hordeling" quasi-demons from 1e? I love the idea of a variable monster that can have a wide variety of different specific traits within a coherent theme, without necessarily jumping to a new power level. Doesn't matter if it's randomly...

    Simplify Weapons and Armor?

Hell, I could absolutely dig that. I prefer to come up with my own flavor, anyway. What difference does it make at the table whether or not there were any serial numbers to file off first?

Continuing your campaign or starting fresh?

I'm really aching to start fresh, because the D&D game I'm running right now was just supposed to be one short adventure with pregen characters, and I'd really love to do some coorperative worldbuilding with my players to get a new setting together, and see what kinds of characters they come up...

Promoting the entire party's experience level at the same time

I don't use XP. When the party survives a really tough encounter or accomplishes something significant, they gain a level. I've considered what to do about characters that just aren't present for as much of the action as everyone else, but holding them back would just penalize everyone's fun...

Help me name my Runepunk RPG!

I think it all depends on how tongue-in-cheek you're planning to go. "Alien Dragon Apocalypse" is flat-out goofy. But "Heavy Metal Roleplaying" sounds like it comes from that narrow zone where you're at once making fun of your subject matter and embracing it at the same time. Like...

ROBOTECH RPG - its back, and its new

Ouch. Yeah. I've gotta agree with the rest of the thread: You lost me at "Kevin Siembieda".

D&D 4E Are there still going to be Alignment requirements for core classes in 4E?

Wow, did they really say that? I thought I'd heard it was going to be less important, but if they've finally divorced it from the mechanics completely, that is great news. Alignment was hooked into way too many mechanics in 3.x. Made it a pain to houserule it out.

    Hypothesis about PHBx

I'm not really expecting the additional core books to be themed at all, really. I think they'll probably be just about analogous to the 3.5 PHB2 and DMG2: They'll contain new material that the designers consider broad enough in its applicability to be made part of the core rules. There will...

    Untrained/trained Skills....Noooo!

I'm not too comfortable about a d20 skill system that doesn't let me buy individual ranks, or skills that go up passively along with character level. The former doesn't reflect how I build my characters now, and the latter doesn't support the way I think of high-level characters and...

    Hypothesis about PHBx

I don't think they're going to flood the game with quite so many new power sources as some folks seem to be proposing, but new power sources will definitely be coming. I'm expecting the first new ones will be Psionic and whatever they've linked Druids to (assuming they're no just Divine, like...

What Supplement Monsters Deserve a Promotion to Core?

Posting to support all the kaorti love. They were the first thing that came to mind when I saw this thread. Oddly, we've seen no sign of an obvious Far Realms analog in the new cosmology. Surprising, since there seemed to be ever more Far Realms material towards the end of 3.x, and more...

D&D 4E What period of D&D art would you most like to see 4E emulate?

I can only think of a few pieces of D&D 3e art (from WotC, anyway) with tattoos, and pretty much none with any body piercings. And since when are tattoos inappropriate for fantasy, anyway? They've got huge precedent as primitive and mystical trappings.

    So, about those halflings...

Sadly, it does not. But honestly, I'd be kind of surprised if that image was truly representative of the 4e halfling. I'm expecting they'll basically look like 3e halflings, probably with some slightly different fluff.

How about "Witch" instead of "Warlock"?

I'm okay with Warlock. It's Warlord that needs changing. My vote is for the name "Commander".

    Gaming Groups and their OS's

We've got one guy on a Mac (I think he's the only one, anyway...), but he runs Windows on it without any trouble.

    D&D 4E Women in 4E

Good points. I think the Pathfinder cover is easier to give a pass to because it's a damned nice piece of art, the character actually looks cool, and she pretty clearly ain't a melee type. The WotC piece (was that from Magic of Incarnum or something?) is easier to condemn because it simply...

    Simpler AoOs

Hm. Good point. It's obviously too early to really say, but this looks like something worth keeping an eye on. I can definitely imagine this becoming a hassle.
