    D&D 4E Reinvisioning the Halfling for 4E

I'm pretty sure he's talking about piratical modes of dress, rather than actual piracy. I'm a little confused by that statement. There is basically no hairstyle that takes longer to dry than dreads. I mean, they're like sponge. Or they are if you've got nappy hair, anyway. Maybe straight...

    D&D 4E Reinvisioning the Halfling for 4E

You know, that is a damn good point. That'd totally work for me. They should be particularly flexible feet, too. Maybe halfway to monkey foot territory, plus a little bit of webbing? Probably to far weird for some folks, but I dig the idea. Part of me wants to say they should have vestigial...

    D&D 4E STR 'to-hit' bonus departing in 4e?

Certainly. But what if we assume equal strength and different levels of general agility, hand-eye coordination, and reflex speed?

Large red dragon mini with only 5 fire resist...

Similarly, it's silly that people can hurt each other with punches, because then they would hurt themselves with them, as well.

    Zee Planes Boss!

Unless they create them in the Astral Sea. Remember, that place has room for anything. Which is it's biggest strength over the Great Wheel, in my opinion: It's not built around an obsessive-compulsive ideal of symmetry, so can contain all the planes you want and none of the planes you don't.

    Zee Planes Boss!

Wow, and I never noticed. That works for me.

Large red dragon mini with only 5 fire resist...

I don't think mere "exposure" really describes what happens when a spell of breath weapon hits a creature. That's not just an environmental change, but an attack. I think burning fire elementals is a bit silly, myself, but I can buy the idea of a red dragon's breath simply tearing one apart...

    New Sage Advice Video

Hopefully they'll give this topic a bit more attention than they did in 3e. Personally, I'm all for just rewarding people for reaching goals, period. Tracking XP earned for every dead mook and then dividing up the total is not something I want to spend time on.

D&D 4E Playing parts of 4e today: Second Wind

I've been figuring Second Wind would look a lot like a rather similar feat from the Tome of Battle, Vital Recovery. It lets you "heal" 3 + level points of damage once per encounter. (Strangely, you also need to recharge an expended martial maneuver in order to do this, which means it's a pain...

    D&D 4E STR 'to-hit' bonus departing in 4e?

That's news to me. But I could believe it, in a system where "wisdom" is actually perception and willpower, and "charisma" is social charm . . . and also willpower. Seriously, after Armor Class, I think the six traditional attributes are my least favorite sacred cow.

Bits and Pieces of Worlds & Monsters

Ah, well that highlights a fundamental difference in our thinking: I prefer magic to work like science, and for a fantasy setting's physics to be identical to ours except where obvious exceptions are necessary (and, of course, are probably less exceptions than place where magic is doing a...

Another sacred cow. Autohit on 20. Keep or Slay?

Autohit and automiss aren't so bad, even to my simulationist side. 5% just isn't that big a percentage, and everybody screws up (or gets lucky) sometimes, regardless of skill level. What I dislike is the idea of autohit and autocrit on the same result. Swarms of kobolds that can only harm...

D&D 4E Opinions on the 4E preview books...

I like most of what seems to be in 'em. But I ain't gonna buy 'em.

    Zee Planes Boss!

On the other hand, it's apparently the Feywild that people take "jaunts" to in order to get around obstacles on the Prime Material (hey, I bet that term's gone, right?).

Bits and Pieces of Worlds & Monsters

Oh, man, it's about freaking time. Hell, that does sound pretty cool. That actually sounds good enough that I might not screw with it much. I'm digging the whole emphasis on "power sources" more and more... Oh, hell yes it's good. Primeval empires are so freaking Lovecraft, and so freaking...

    D&D 4E Reinvisioning the Halfling for 4E

Ah, nice catch. I guess it's just yet another instance of artists who don't know anything about how kinky hair actually works.

    D&D 4E The Blood War in 4E?

I have never given a damn about the Blood War. And while, in some ways, the more distinct demons and devils of 4e make conflict between them a little bit more meaningful (instead of Chaotic Evil outsiders vs. Lawful Evil outsiders, it'd be corrupted elemental horrors vs. fallen angels), but...

    D&D 4E Reinvisioning the Halfling for 4E

You know, looking close at the art in Races & Classes, I'm not really sure that's the case. They don't have dreads; they've just these terrible, 1970s-looking braids which'd be possible with any hair texture. And this guy clearly has straight hair, if you look at his forehead. That said, all...

Heh. How long before somebody complains that Adjective Weapon of Noun magic items are "totally WoW"?
