Could we please have a non evil/ammoral pact for Warlocks? :)

I'm not sure that's a reasonable assumption. Sure, the player could have created a Warlock who made a pact with a good-aligned patron, but that doesn't mean that the character ever had such a chance. I don't picture D&D cities as having a bunch of clearly-marked training halls for Fighters...

How Per Encounter power recharging should work

I think there's a large portion of truth in that--the idea of making later encounters more dangerous by "wearing down" the party instead of amping up the challenges is pretty much a game-specific thing--but I also think Lanefan's assertion that a party shouldn't still be "fresh" after any fights...

Worlds & Monsters -- I has it, too!

More like the '20s and '30s, really. Snakemen are (for good or ill) classic pulp.

Will Dragon cultural/politcal climate stay the same ?

For the love of God, just give it up already.

Could we please have a non evil/ammoral pact for Warlocks? :)

I can't speak for mhacdebhandia, but I'm going to laugh at him. The frequent misapplication of the term "emo" by Internet people who don't know jack about the music scene is almost as obnoxious and sad as emo music itself.

    leading an american- indian campaign

Well, the Native American cultures did have their own mythical "demi-humans", if such options are desireable. I'm far from an expert, but there are definitely a lot of "little people", giants, and that sort of thing in their folklore. Of course, the big hassle in looking any of this stuff up...

    Dragon intrigue without magic possible?

I'm still not seeing any justification for this assumption. Who in the hell is going to refuse a dragon's money? Even if all the merchants are holed up somewhere the dragon is physically too large to access, all it would need to do is find a one-time runner to establish communication. When...

    Dragon intrigue without magic possible?

Damn, but that is a good point. I don't know how things'll work in 4e, but I believe an old red in 3.5 can have up to 31 ranks in Diplomacy. And that's before it gets into Charisma bonus, feats, skill synergies, etc. Makes the party Bard sound like the village drunk. Hell, makes him sound...

    Moon men

Well, the dromites could just be the actual, organic moon men who build the automatons, and then transmit their consciousnesses into them as "moon motes". The tower, of course, would be a sort of focusing device that allows them to project all the way from the moon. It'd be this same property...

    Dragon intrigue without magic possible?

Why not? We're talking about a tremendously intelligent, long-lived, and physically powerful creature, here. If it lands outside the walls of a city with a claw full of gold and says it wants to buy some land and invest in some local businesses, I don't expect anyone is going to yell "We only...

    Dragon intrigue without magic possible?

Exactly. This thread is like asking "Human intrigue without magic possible?"

Keeping control of your game while keeping illusion of liberty

Seriously. I once set up a decently well-guarded fortress and gave my very creative players and their 2nd-level characters opportunities and resources to use subterfuge and stealth to get to their objective without just kicking in the door and taking on everyone inside. I even told them they...

D&D 4E How is the 4e announcement affecting your game groups?

My group is play pre-reboot World of Darkness, right now, but the 4e announcement--and the rather distant release date of the new core books--might have delayed the next D&D segment of our gaming cycle a bit. At least, it's definitely one reason why, next time I find myself back in the GM seat...

I think that about sums it up.

    Why all the healing?

That actually sounds pretty cool, to me. If dynamic situational advantages and disadvantages in combat are "another kind of hit points", then they're a far more interesting one than a single pool of undifferentiated points representing physical health, combat readiness, luck, fatigue, and so...

Rich Baker on Paladin Mounts and Multiclassing

I'd say there's a logical classification of character abilities between those extremes: "Only members of this class should have it, but not every member of the class." Although I certainly agree that talents are just feats with class-specific prerequisites, and it seems a little bit unnecessary...

Rich Baker on Paladin Mounts and Multiclassing

Man, it's about time. On both counts. Seriously, did anyone ever actually observe the Paladin and Monk multiclassing restrictions? Or, for that matter, multiclassing experience penalties? I should start a poll... I'm with DarwinofMind. This would disappoint me tremendously. Oh lord, borble...

    D&D 4E 4e D&D PC games

Honestly, I'd say the real key would be a new D&D cartoon. Something with the quality level and target demographic of Avatar: The Last Airbender would seriously work wonders for the brand's popularity. But that's another thread. Oh, by God, yes. This halfway-between-action-and-strategy thing...

    Moon men

Hell, make the moon men living astral constructs. Maybe they're wholly independant beings, or maybe they're being projected by psionic masters on the moon. Maybe they're recognizeable as astral constructs, or maybe they look like duplicates of their creators (I'm picturing a bunch of old...
